Where Have All the FR Protestants Gone?
drstevej

Posted on 04/08/2003 12:29 PM CDT by drstevej

OBSERVATIONS:

[1] There seems to be a significantly reduced number of Protestant Threads (KJV Only being the exception for sure) in the FR Religion Forum.

[2] There seems to be a reduced number of FR Protestant posts in the Religion Forum.

This thread is a place to discuss these observations.

------------

Now the transformation to a Catholic Religion Forum is almost complete. Must be a Marian miracle or an answer to Jim Robinson's prayer, "Can't we all just get along?" Now all the dissent is within the RC fold ... NO Mass vs. Tridentine Mass. Boredom has descended, the moderators are free to nap without fear of an **** awakening them.

Could someone arrange for a funeral mass? (a clown mass in this case might be in order).

I am not nearly well versed in Catholicism as many of the posters here.

Here's an opportunity to catch up, along with the rest of us.

Catechism CC - PART ONE THE PROFESSION OF FAITH

Catechism CC - CHAPTER TWO - GOD COMES TO MEET MAN

Catechism CC - MAN'S RESPONSE TO GOD

Catechism CC - Section 2 - THE PROFESSION OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH
This is where you will find the Nicene and Apostle creeds.

Catholicism is, of course, an objective fact. One is either Catholic or not Catholic.

Those who are immersed in and drowning (or long since drowned) in the waters of the "spirit of Vatican II" as opposed to the work of the Council itself, those who favor "equal rights" for practitioners of anal sex before the law, those who are loyal to the teachings of the Voice of the Faithful or of "Sister" Hobday or other witches (do we spell that differently in our centuries as Van Johnson said in Brigadoon?) but never a default position showing proper respect for the papacy, and others of their ilk may disagree and think Catholicism is subjective and in the eye of the beholder or that AmChurch leftism equates to Catholicism which it certainly does not.

You are a Catholic. You are the standard and among those who are the standard. The winds of change blow in a new direction consistent with the history of the actual Roman Catholic Church, as indicated by Cardinal Arinze, and by Dario Cardinal Castrillon de Hoyos's Tridentine Mass at St. Mary Maggiore on May 25, and by the upcoming Vatican liturgical crackdown on "do-it-yourself" Masses, as Cardinal Arinze termed it, and the expansion of the Mass of our ancestors to a matter of right. Such a grave rejection of a rapidly aging generation of revolutionary AmChurch bishops, dying and retiring in increasing numbers and many replaced by Catholic successors. They have stood in the hallway and blocked up the doors to Catholicism for too, too long. Wait for the AmChurch whining if Cardinal McPhony is indicted! Sweet music! We are about to enter a no-Kumbaya zone!

Patent was back at his post just a few days ago and doing his usual level-headed and orthodox job.

Aren't the sedevacantists the ones who make a career of pope-bashing, even if they are minor clergy?

The "far right", according to the termites of AmChurch is anyone who is Catholic like thee, like me, like those allergic to Kumbayaism in all its forms. Their termite dreams die but die hard. Tough! They should not let the door, etc.

The point that I was making was that it is not "Catholic" to make statements that do not reflect the facts of a matter. Most especially when those non-facts are presented as truths, and intended to denigrate the teaching in question, and then when disproved, are not retracted.

I asked you for your definition of "Catholic" and you tell me that you profess all the creeds I need to profess, sara, with a full and willing heart".

I had no doubt that that is/was what you do and while it seems to be so reasonable,so kind,so catholic,so american,so inclusive,it's not so "Catholic".

I don't like categorizing Catholics "right" vs. "left", but indulging in that metaphor, I think that sinkspur is right to point out that the breadth of opinion here at FR is dramatically truncated.

There's no such thing as right and left in the Church: there is only one Catholic faith. Otherwise, how could we call it such?

Most of the schismatics say that the Novus Ordo is invalid, ..... Please, aside from Ultima Ratio, who else says this? Name some names, won't you.... Aloysius, Maximillian, Land of the Irish, huskyboy.

I have never made the claim that the Novus Ordo itself is invalid. I believe some of them are because the intentions of the priest are contrary to those of the Church.

Dear Cap'n,

"Boy, I guess I'm really out of the loop, what happened to sitetest, patent and siobhan???"

I guess we died or something.

I'll let you know when I figure it all out.

Dear sandy,

Hey, I'm still here, I just post a little less. I'm doin' what I'm supposed to be doin'. ;-)

But I remember you when I say the Rosary, along with a lot of the other Catholic, near-Catholic, and once-Catholic posters around here. Our prayers for each other are far more valuable than any post any of us ever makes.

We've lost the yeast, or the salt, or something.

The up side however, is that I have a lot more time to do actual work while at work rather than monitor 200 posts an hour threads;)

Dear Salvation,

"No guilt trip intended."

Don't tell him that! A little guilt is good for folks. Especially non-Catholics.
