OBSERVATIONS:
[1] There seems to be a significantly reduced number of Protestant Threads (KJV Only being the exception for sure) in the FR Religion Forum.
[2] There seems to be a reduced number of FR Protestant posts in the Religion Forum.
This thread is a place to discuss these observations.

Once the lashing out starts, the debate is no longer a debate Absolutely. There's the topic-at-hand (whatever that may be) and then there's the character of the poster. When the conversation switches from the former to the latter, the debate has ended, and all it proves is who has more examples to quote (not necc. which side's argument has more support), and who has the shorter temper.

The FACT that EVERY thread with any mention of the Catholic Church, a priest, or the pope
attracts a PLETHORA of ad hominem utterances or groundless and ancient disproven canards about the Church
is just that, a FACT.
I find RnMom is not one of those who posts such unChristian tripe.
It is quite tiresome, though, to read so many ungrounded assumptions about the Church - particularly the hilarious ones that pretend that we do not believe Jesus is our savior or that the bible is the Word of God.
It is a disgrace that any Christian would ever make such baseless and unfounded claims.

Nope. I have to disagree with you again. There is nothing unholy about discussing sports or vacations. Why do you want to drive a stake thru the heart? If it's not for you, ignore it. Here people of different faiths discuss religion, while still respecting the poster. You will also see them apologize when the line is crossed. I think the difference is, that we take the time to get to know each other. I only see problems when visitors drop by with an agenda. They usually don't stay long though because to participate , you will need to be willing to read your bible, discuss scripture, and be prepared to test your beliefs. We do work hard but sometimes you just need to stop for a milk and cookie break. ;').

because to participate , you will need to be willing to read your bible, discuss scripture, and be prepared to test your beliefs I totally agree. I wish some other people did, though.

still waiting for you to direct us all towards the lies - surely some posts remain ... still waiting
Illbay, you've made the accusation that lies have been spoken with regard to your religion. Rev911 has asked for evidence of the infraction. I've waited patiently through many, many posts for your response. Are you able to backup the accusation, or not?

THIS IS A RELIGION FORUM
it is not a basketball , motorcycle, cooking , joke forum. The NET is a general discussion thread that sometimes talks about rteligion and alot of times post nonsence to build numbers so it LOOKS like a REAL thread .
If you are honest you know that I speak the truth..Religion is ONE of many topics there.
It belongs on the general forum..
Do you think calling it religious makes it religious? ..cause serious apologists think it is a joke
To: RnMomof7
You need to post here so your feelings are not hurt and you will never have to be challanged to THINK about WHY you believe as you do
You just don't get it, do you? I'm done trying to explain things to you. You just refuse to see it.
To: Alex Murphy
Heads' up, everyone. It's not "bashing" or "smearing" anyone, if you claim you're not making offensive epithets but just "making an observation".
Look, I know you're just trying to provoke an all-out flamewar here. Par for the course. But alling someone a bigot as an observation is not "smearing" and "bashing." I'm not misrepresenting anyone's beliefs; I'm making an observation on people's actions. The owner of the site seems to be in agreement.

Do you think calling yourself a "serious apologists" makes you an apologist or makes people take you seriously....LOL

Pulllleeeeeze stop your whining.
You hate the NES thread and wish and pray for Jim to pull it because you have been told you are not welcome there anymore.
If it's so unimportant in the scheme of Religious matters, what does it matter to you which forum it resides in?
Just scroll on past it dearie. You don't have to read it.

You are straying from the original text, REV!
You probably also promote the NIV! I will inform Jack Chick. Expect a tract unmasking your New Age agenda!

Maybe they all converted to Catholicism ;-)
I came back to the Church three years ago because a Protestant friend attacked Catholicism, but I had no answers for him. I started reading and learning, and attending Mass weekly. I feel the Holy Spirit used my friend to get me off my lazy butt.
Many of the Protestants here have also challenged my faith, giving me the opportuntity to research and learn more about the richness and fullness of my Church. For the most part, I have enjoyed these discussions -- when they didn't get personal or petty and when those in conversation didn't resort to mean-spirited attacks and name-calling.
I've missed these debates, but I'm partly to blame. During the last trimester of my pregnancy, I was too tired to spend much time on FR, and now that my baby is 2 weeks old I still don't have the time or energy.
But if I'm pinged, I try to engage. Maybe everyone thinks we've said it all ...
God bless.
