Can The 21st Century King James Bible Be Trusted?
Bible Versions, Your Questions Answered ^ | 2002 | David W Daniels

QUESTION: What about the 21st Century King James Bible? Isn't it supposed to be an exact reprint of the original 1611 version but archaic words replaced for the closest modern word? Can it be trusted?

Why does the original 1611 version have "strain out a gnat" and modern King James versions misprint that by saying "strain at a gnat" When will this error be corrected?

ANSWER: The 21st Century King James Bible is not really a King James Bible at all. I trust only what God has blessed. Do you have any evidence of the massive revival sweeping the land with ANY modern version but the King James, from 1611 to the present? Of preachers who are sure they are preaching "thus sayeth the Lord"? I don't trust any fake KJV. Just the real one.

I only became a Christian because of the "strain AT a gnat" verse.....

If that is a mistranslation....I renounce it all!

Thanks for the 'ping'! There is a good booklet put out by Kevin Stewart, which I believe you can get from Riplingers,AV publishing, titled Is the KJ21 Really God's Word .

As for Matthew 23:24, I have never understood why people have had a hard time with it!

The Pharisees would make a big deal over little things 'gagging at them' while swallowing large falsehoods 'Camels'.

Both versions of the verse mean the same thing...don't renounce any thing be cause some-one is "straining(choking on) at or out of gnats regarding this verse.

I wonder what Chick publications must be theorizing regarding other translations of the Bible into foreign tongues...say into French, Russian, or bengali...not to mention esoteric translations that the Wycliff translators do for many of the tribal groups in South America or Africa.

I read once the Japanese version of the 23rd Psalm translated into English. It reads like a Zen Bhuddist Koan...but then again the Japanese culture had no historic reference to shepherds and sheep...so the translators distilled the Psalm into its pure essense, with references to God and his guidance in terms of pure energy and enlightenment. The funny thing is, the meaning is not changed at all!

Here is the Japanese version of the 23rd Psalm,(english translation) Mr. Chick et al would probably have heart failure over this one. The Japs never had sheep or shepherds, so the problem was how to convey the richness of the 23rd Psalm into Japanese with changing the meaning. I'm sure after reading this one, the KJV controversies should become non-issues!

The Lord is my pace-setter:

I shall not rush.

He makes me stop and rest for
quiet intervals

He provides me with images
of stillness.

Which restores my serenity.

He leads me in the way
of efficiency
through calmness of mind

And his guidance is peace.

Even though I have a great
many things
to accomplish each day.

I will not fret

For his presence is here.

His timelessness,
His all-importance
will keep me in balance.

He prepares me refreshment and renewal
in the midst of my activity

By anointing my mind with the oil
of tranquility

My cup of joyous energy overflows.

Surely harmony and effectiveness

Shall be the fruit of my hours,
for I shall walk in the pace of
my Lord

And dwell in His house forever.
