LOVE MAKES A FAMILY?
Jon and Michael Galluccio
In 1995, Michael Galluccio and Jon Holden, who had been partners for 16 years, decided they would like to adopt a child through the NJ Division of Youth and Family Services. While on the10 year long waiting list for a healthy child, they became foster parents to an HIV+ infant. After they nursed him through many years, their desire to adopt him was thwarted by state law that did not allow gay couples to co-adopt. They took their case to the NJ Supreme Court. The story of how they won their case is one of the many aspects they will cover in their talk. They also explore the emotional, psychological and legal battles that gay couples face when dealing with issues of foster care, adoption and social intolerance.
The Galluccios, who now have three adopted children, live in Paterson. Their story has been widely followed in the press, with reports in Time, Newsweek, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, the Wall Street Journal, as well as on Good Morning America and Larry King Live.
Their book, An American Family, will be available to purchase after the meeting.
Non-Members of AAUW are welcome to attend and to share in an open discussion.

The church doesn't support pro-homosexual activities......
"Why do many of the Roman Catholic Faithful believe this type of lifestyle is OK and why aren't the priests talking about these type of sins in their sermons?"
by not addressing this nonsense in thier sermons - they are in fact supporting it
My sis is openly gay, Catholic and attends the same church my folks do, and it breaks my heart that this sin is ignored.

Catechism of the Catholic Church
2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

'Jon and Michael, who have adopted three children, had their Holy Union Ceremony on Father's Day, June 28, 1998'
Well, now isn't that special! BARF! There ain't nothing holy about that union.
BTW, Father's Day is celebrated on the 3rd Sunday in June, so in 1998, it would have been on June 21st. I know this because our first child was born 2 weeks before that in 1998, and I distinctly remember my husband celebrating his first Father's Day when our daughter was two weeks old. (Our third child is due on Father's Day this year!)
