Chaplet of Divine Mercy
http://www.faustina.ch/index_en.htm ^

Posted on 03/16/2003 7:05:29 AM PST by Litany

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy (on ordinary rosary beads)

Begin with:

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trepasses as we forgive those who trepass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with Thee. Blessed art Thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of the sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

On the large bead before each decade:

Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

On the 10 small beads of each decade:

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Conclude with (after five decades):

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (3 times)

This is my fourth year of saying the Divine Mercy Novena starting on Good Friday, but I say the chaplet quite often, almost every day. My mom got me started on it, and I have given a novena booklet this year to a dear friend who is struggling mightily to stay Catholic, and I fear may lose the battle. I am offering the novena this year for her and her family, that God might touch their hearts and renew their faith. I humbly ask for any prayers you could offer for them.

Sandyeggo,

I'm glad to hear that you say the Chaplet almost every day. As I mentioned before, the Divine Mercy devotion has saved my prayer life, and since the end of last July/beginning of last August, I have been saying the Chaplet almost every day, in most instance at 3 pm, the Hour of Great Mercy. Starting more recently, I now say a prayer that Saint Faustina wrote in her Diary for sinner before I say the Chaplet too. On one of the instances that I didn't get to say the Chaplet at 3 pm recently, I said it during the 9 pm hour, and then when I went downstairs, and saw my dad was watching the news, it immediately became clear to me that the Chaplet I had just prayed was for the brave men and women who were going into harm's way that night, for it was the night of the first strike on Iraq. It's amazing how God works, isn't it?

Thanks for all the nice comments I have received from you concerning my internship. I hope I am able to get a more permanent position someplace because of it. Please keep me in my prayers, for I have to scramble to get ready to start, because my first day is April 28th, and I have to find a place to live and make other arrangments. May God grant me the strength and whatever else I need to carry out my task. Happy Easter everyone, and may God continue to bless everyone on FR.

** I was called on Wednesday about a paid internship at the Heritage Foundation, that I had not applied to, but they had my resume because I had sent it to their Job Bank, traveled down to DC on Thursday for the interview, and found out after I came home from the Good Friday Liturgy yesterday afternoon that I had been hired!**

Praises! You will do well!

Dear Pyro, Congratulations. My mother Siobhan says she is very happy for you and very proud. She is taking care of last minute details for the big move Down Under the Monday after Divine Mercy Sunday. My grandmother, father, three littlest siblings, my mother, and one of my brothers are all going. Please say a Chaplet for them. I am very grateful that my father found a job -- and a good one at that. But selfishly I want them all to stay here. But I have my brood, Finn and Aileen, and other family about. One of the blessings of a large Irish Catholic family.

God bless you, dear Pyro. And I will say a Chaplet for you and the start of your internship. I am extremely proud of you.
