Ever Ancient, Ever New

This new blog will give people the chance to read testimonies from students on the ground at various "Catholic" colleges and universities.

Give this link to parents with current or prospective students, alumni who foolishly continue to donate to these schools, and anyone else who thinks that our "Catholic" schools are not so bad off.

Heck, send it to a Bishop just for fun.

Hi
I am trying as best as I can to understand the attachment the Catholics have to the Virgin Mary. Yet I have searched the scripture over and over and I can find no documentation of their belief concerning her. I must be overlooking something, would you be so kind as to give me the scriptures your order uses to substanciate these beliefs?

Sorry I didn't see your post to me until today.

Catholics have an attachment to the Blessed Virgin Mary because she assented to God's will perfectly and because she is the mother of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. She is the model of a perfect Christian life.

When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, "Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.

And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.

Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled."

And Mary said: "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior.

For he has looked upon his handmaid's lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed.

If Jesus Christ is my brother (because I am an adopted daughter of God), then the Blessed Virgin Mary is my mother in heaven.
