We don’t watch a lot of television in our home anymore. Especially Disney. And there’s a good reason. The entire entertainment industry has departed from its seemingly harmless mission of turning us into couch potatoes and making us laugh. It has now become our primary catechism for moral and spiritual formation.
And Disney has become the high priest of this secular humanistic self-worship religion masquerading as innocent entertainment for children.
“Coven Academy,” produced by Disney Kids & Family, opens October 1 and will reportedly follow teenage witches, warlocks, and a vampire at an elite magical boarding school. Disney’s “First Look” reveals the series will include “ancient supernatural wars,” “forbidden love interests,” and “dangerous desires.”
With Disney’s recent history, one can only imagine what these “forbidden love interests” and “dangerous desires” will encompass. The series features Joshua Bassett, a flaming homosexual teenager who was “baptized” at Bethel Church in Redding, CA, and who later denounced Bethel (yes, that Bethel) for being “anti-gay.”
But isn’t this just innocent entertainment? Hasn’t entertainment always incorporated supernatural elements? Evil? Dark powers? Even Scripture depicts sorcerers, mediums, demons and demonic activity, and false religions.
But the problem isn’t that Disney depicts such things. Traditionally, evil is distinguished from good, and the dark powers are portrayed within a discernible moral order.
But here, Disney presents witchcraft and its associated worldview as an attractive means of self-discovery and identity, turning witches into heroes and presenting it alongside romance, friendship, self-empowerment, and adolescent identity.
Essentially, Disney presents membership in a coven as a normal, legitimate “coming of age” experience for teens.
And that’s not normal.
But Disney’s forte isn’t entertainment. Like I said, its mission is moral formation. And its mission is to form your children’s morals away from the objective moral standard presented in a Christian worldview.
A Christian worldview is far too “restrictive” and “oppressive.”
Disney’s stories teach children which characters deserve admiration and which characters deserve to be shunned, while repetition makes unusual conduct—two men kissing, girls holding hands, men wearing dresses, witches casting spells, etc.—all seem ordinary and innocent.
Disney’s methods include emotional manipulation first, and then intellectual affirmation follows.
Disney does not need to provide literal instructions to the occult. It only needs to glamorize it, sympathize with it, or make it appear “empowering” to a young, formative mind.
It’s how catechism works.
No story is morally neutral. Every story presents some form of humanity, sin, freedom, authority, and redemption. And it’s either presenting a biblical vision of these things, or it is not.
And Disney is not.
Disney’s presents a worldview that is thoroughly secular and anti-Christian.
Disney’s sexual revolution came first. Not that long ago, DuckTales introduced a child character with two “dads” and presented this as an ordinary family structure targeted at young children.
Disney began producing a line of children’s “pride” apparel including rainbow-themed infant clothing and toys.
Then Disney’s beloved Toy Story character, Buzz Lightyear, was turned into a sodomite, complete with a homosexual kissing scene. Just imagine what that did to young children who loved the character?
Disney’s Baymax then depicted a “transgender” character who recommended tampons.
Disney’s pop stars give out abortion pills at concerts. It inserts homosexual romance into its High School Musical series. And its theme parks have been inviting young children to its “pride” celebrations for decades.
And Disney had long passed simply “including” such aberrant ideology in its productions. As a corporation, it actively opposed parental rights legislation in Florida and promised to help defeat the law. Disney had become a full-fledged political machine actively promoting a Sodom and Gomorrah worldview.
Just like the frog in a pot of boiling water, Disney has turned the heat up slowly. Just one “gay kiss”—dismissed as an aberration. Just one “non-binary” character—nobody will really notice. Just one transgender cameo—did you even catch that? Just an optional pride event—you don’t have to attend. Just one fantasy witch series—you don’t have to watch it.
Repeatedly, Disney has shown the same pattern. They introduce the controversial material, back off a bit, and wait for the ensuing backlash to subside. Then the parents are pacified, children are glued back to Disney+, and the needle has been moved, just a little. Rinse. Repeat.
And this “Coven Academy,” despite what it seems, is another escalation. While Disney has succeeded at moving the needle quite a bit on sexuality, gender, and family, it’s now turning its focus on normalizing spiritual power, occult identity, and witchcraft. It’s another turn of the dial away from a Christian worldview.
The heroes of this series find community and solidarity around practices that Scripture strictly forbids and frames “evil” not as rebellion against God or a strict, traditional moral order, but as a “misuse” of magical powers.
I remember, as a kid, Disney being comparatively safe compared to what it is today. I remember watching DuckTales as a kid. Sure, Scrooge was greedy and loved his money, but at the end of the day, he was generous and took care of his family with it.
I remember watching all the Disney cartoons and never walked away from them believing a traditional biblical moral order was something evil that I needed to be liberated from. I never walked away thinking homosexuality was normal or acceptable behavior. I never walked away believing that practicing witchcraft was something I needed to pursue.
Maybe I was naive. I don’t know.
But I can’t stomach the garbage coming out of that monstrosity nowadays.
I just can’t.
Its progressive activism incorporated into its children’s programming demonstrates that Disney no longer seeks to provide good family entertainment. It no longer shares the same assumptions about sexuality, family, human identity, or spirituality rooted in a traditional, Christian worldview.
Not that Disney has ever been a “Christian” entertainment company. But historically, it shared, or at least did not oppose, the same moral order that once pervaded this nation.
And the issue is not even that every Disney program contains immoral, anti-Christian propaganda—it does. But the issue is that parents can no longer assume that Disney programming isn’t going to present a competing worldview, glamorize it, and make it attractive to their children.
That’s the bigger issue.
Parents can’t outsource their children’s discipleship to the entertainment industry. We can’t outsource it to public schools, to daycare centers, or to anyone else at all. Not even to your church. It is primarily the responsibility of parents to disciple and catechize our children.
We can point the finger at Disney all day and say “bad!” But if we’re derilict in our duty, then so are we.

One Disney executive boasted about her “not-at-all-secret gay agenda” and efforts at “adding queerness to” children’s programming, in leaked audio published by investigative journalist Chris Rufo on Tuesday.
“Our leadership over there has been so welcoming to my, like, not-at-all-secret gay agenda,” said Latoya Raveneau, an executive producer for Disney Television Animation. “I was just, wherever I could, just basically adding queerness … No one would stop me and no one was trying to stop me.”

Why Did It Lose Money? Filming in the United Kingdom requires public financial reporting, which revealed that Disney’s actual spending escalated to $379.8 million due to intensive visual effects work and pandemic-related delays. Even after receiving roughly $60 million back in UK tax incentives, the net production costs remained staggering.
The “Theater Cut” Formula left Disney with an estimated theater payout of only $285 million, failing to even cover the baseline cost of production before marketing bills were added. While merchandise, physical media sales, and Disney+ streaming metrics—offset some overall studio damage, the theatrical run itself remains firmly classified as a financial loss for the company.
Disney’s 2025 live-action Snow White is widely considered one of the biggest box office and PR disasters in the company’s modern history, resulting in an estimated net loss of roughly $170 million.
Production costs ballooned past $270 million (after UK tax incentives) due to a set fire at Pinewood Studios and extensive, costly reshoots.
The film grossed only around $205 million to $206 million worldwide. Because theaters keep roughly half of ticket sales, Disney’s return left them with an estimated $168.7 million to $170 million net loss, making it one of the largest pure-dollar theatrical bombs for the studio.
Feminazi actress Rachel Zegler drew heavy online backlash for publicly criticizing the original 1937 animated film as “weird” and outdated, as well as posting polarizing political statements on social media.
The project was plagued by production pivots—initially attempting to replace the Seven Dwarfs with “magical creatures” before pivoting back to CGI dwarfs—which alienated both traditional fans and critics of the dwarfism community.
Audiences showed growing fatigue toward live-action Disney adaptations that altered classic stories without offering fresh or compelling innovations.
If Disney would create a classics channel, only showing their things from ‘70s or earlier, I would happily stream it. A few things from the ‘80s weren’t bad, but it was definitely downhill from there.

Cancel the streamers and watch good movies on PPV. Or at least learn to churn; subscribe for a month or two, watch whatever is on your list, and cancel. Tubi, Plex and Kanopy are free.
If the mass audience would stop giving the streamers a huge passive income stream from monthly subscriptions, the streaming model would collapse. We just have to go back to buying tickets and watching selectively.
The streamers know this. That’s why they’re buying up sports broadcasting. A lot of freepers will dump on Disney — but hang on to ESPN, which is Disney.
