1Â Hear this, all you peoples;

    listen, all who live in this world,
2Â both low and high,

    rich and poor alike:
3Â My mouth will speak words of wisdom;

    the meditation of my heart will give you understanding.
4Â I will turn my ear to a proverb;

    with the harp I will expound my riddle:
5Â Why should I fear when evil days come,

    when wicked deceivers surround me—
6Â those who trust in their wealth

    and boast of their great riches?
7Â No one can redeem the life of another

    or give to God a ransom for them—
8Â the ransom for a life is costly,

    no payment is ever enough—
9Â so that they should live on forever

    and not see decay.
10Â For all can see that the wise die,

    that the foolish and the senseless also perish,

    leaving their wealth to others.
11Â Their tombs will remain their houses[b] forever,

    their dwellings for endless generations,

    though they had[c] named lands after themselves.
12Â People, despite their wealth, do not endure;

    they are like the beasts that perish.
13Â This is the fate of those who trust in themselves,

    and of their followers, who approve their sayings.[d]
14Â They are like sheep and are destined to die;

    death will be their shepherd

    (but the upright will prevail over them in the morning).

Their forms will decay in the grave,

    far from their princely mansions.
15Â But God will redeem me from the realm of the dead;

    he will surely take me to himself.
16Â Do not be overawed when others grow rich,

    when the splendor of their houses increases;
17Â for they will take nothing with them when they die,

    their splendor will not descend with them.
18 Though while they live they count themselves blessed—

    and people praise you when you prosper—
19Â they will join those who have gone before them,

    who will never again see the light of life.
20Â People who have wealth but lack understanding

    are like the beasts that perish.

Patience is not one of my "virtues". It should be, because it is one of what St. Paul calls the "Fruit of the Spirit". If the Holy Spirit is working in my life, I SHOULD be exhibiting Patience, but it seems elusive to me. I have to admit, I am very patient with my students, but very IMPATIENT with myself. I am artistic, but can't abide crafts that have "wait time" between stages. I am the same way with my own music, and will often "do it myself" rather than wait for a collaborator to show up.
The Psalmist, speaking the Word of God, tells us to "Be Still and Know that I AM God". "Doing" can often overtake "Knowing" and cause self-sufficiency to exclude the Creator of the Universe!

Amen to your prayers and word. Prey is usually patient, until the time of attack. We walked our dog along the river, there looked to be a dog following us across the meadow, except it moved like a cat. We were headed towards a wooded area and decided to go back instead. Had the same problem with big eagles when we let our dog run around, that is until we saw them staring at our tempting meal. Patience is a big deal in the world we live in. Thank the Lord for the 4th watch wake up time.
My prayers always for Israel. God bless.
Amen
We have Foxes, Coyotes, and Feral Kitties around here, and the mice still play!
