[Catholic Caucus] Cardinal notes “changing understandings of gender,” says Church must discern how to change.
At Leo XIV's meeting marking ten years of Amoris Laetitia on October 8, Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão delivered a speech on the challenges facing families in Asia. He is the President of the Conference of Bishops of India.
Discussing changes in the “identity, nature and composition of the family,” the cardinal observed that “new forms of partnership and cohabitation are emerging, amid changing understandings of gender and relationships in urban settings.”
Reflecting on what the Church has learned from its pastoral work, Ferrão declared: “Pastoral work is itself a place of discernment. We don't arrive with ready-made answers. We discern together with families and, in doing so, we learn how the Church herself is being asked to change.”
In his conclusion, the cardinal stated that “there is no single stereotype of an ideal family” and asked, “What is the Holy Spirit asking the Church to change – not only in what we do for the families, but in how we understand, accompany and empower them as protagonists of the Gospel and as enduring loci of God’s revelation.”

“We discern together with families and…”
They forget to consult the catechism. Jesus is at the center of everything

“ Do these clowns even read the Bible?”
Not the catechism, not the foundations of the Catholic Church, no. Not the Bible.
They’re people, not the Church.

These are crazy times. I attribute good will to all three of you. May God grant all of us discernment (not the Francis type).
We all believe that the Gates of Hell shall not prevail against Holy Mother Church. That does not mean things won't get extremely confusing for a while. It happened before (Arians, Albigensians and other Gnostics, Protestant Revolt, and now Modernism). I believe this is the worst of all, because it is coming from all directions simultaneously and questions the reality of Truth itself.
If someone with the charisms of a St. Vincent Ferrer (raised 40 from the dead, converted 100s of Jews in one sermon) could still follow an anti-pope (Peter de Luna), that means one could be mistaken on fact on some pretty basic stuff, and still have his prayers heard by God, be worth listening to, and lead a Holy life.
We should all post those articles that we believe are edifying or at least useful or informative. We don't have to tear down the others even while disagreeing with them.
Many of us at one point did backflips trying to deal with the cognitive dissonance caused when a Pope's actions or writings cannot be reconciled with the known Truth. Over time, that dissonance has to be resolved, either by scaling back exactly what the protections are against error, or by assuming there is something we do not know. The Truth is gotten ONLY by Grace, to which we must be open. WHEN God gives that Grace to any of us is up to Him, not us. A smart and decent man like Judge Robert Bork did not come to the truth until his final days. Blessed be God. Each of us, in this life, or at judgment will find things we hold strongly to be a little or a lot off. Thankfully, God is merciful, and I hope moreso in such confusing times.

You are correct.
Pope Francis thought he could manage social media. He was wrong.
Pope Leo doesn’t say much and I find it highly irritating when the MSM makes up words and out it as if he said x y or z
