Baptist ‘Pastor’ Steven Anderson Says It’s ‘Evil’ For Wives To Report Abuse, Call Cops On Abusive Husband

Controversial Arizona pastor Steven Anderson is embroiled in a new controversy after recordings surfaced of him saying that it’s ‘evil’ and ‘wicked’ for wives to call the police if they are being physically abused by their husband, saying in a clip:

“I’m not saying your husband should SLAP YOU DOWN, but if your husband slaps you down and you call the cops, YOU’RE EVIL…What an evil broad. What an evil woman.”

Anderson, the firebrand KJV-Onlyist and NIFB leader of the 300-member Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, AZ, has the dubious distinction of being banned from 34 countries, including every English-speaking developed country.

You don’t get to say things like “If I had a button right here on this pulpit, I could just push this button and every fag would just fall over dead. I would push it until it breaks,” without raising a few eyebrows.

Recently, he’s been in the public eye after his four oldest children accused him of verbal and physical abuse, resulting in a wild sermon where he prayed God would “destroy” them.

During his sermon, he also said it was evil for wives to covertly record instances of their husband beating them or engaging in marital rape and passing that recording off to the police in order to get their spouse arrested.

These are power games for the most part, where folks like you take sides (that’s the flavor of the day - the man is always wrong and the woman is always the victim), and putting cops in the awful situation of getting involved in relationships and families where they have no business.

The ugly truth is that in cases of severe spousal abuse, the man (and in most cases it is the man) controls every aspect of the wife's life. She's either not allowed to work and if she does, he takes all her income, so she has no money and he isolates her from family and prevents her from having friends who might help. He threatens her with taking away their children from her if she tries to leave. He beats her then says she's lucky that he didn't kill her this time.

Are there shelters for women like this, yes. But they are few and far between and hard to get into, esp. with children.

And if she does leave, and even if she gets a restraining order, she will forever fear he will find her and kill her.
