What is it with Protestants and this obsession with the end of the world.
He told us not to try and predict the end. That’s his responsibility. We just won’t know and for good reasons.

I think that the people who came up with climate change borrowed that whole thing by noticing how end timers cling, over the generations, to a delusion.
Now, I believe the Bible, but I see your point of view. The end time has become a longer period of time than the age it was supposed to be the mere end of.

Not quite correct. Jesus told us what to watch for and to be ready. Grifters tried to predict the actual date for monetary gain. True Christians see which way the world is going and prepare for that day.
I think the final religion is an amalgam of Islam and Catholicism, with the emphasis on Islam.

To be fair, this tendency goes way back even before the protestants. Aztecs believed the end of the world would happen if they didn’t have sacrifices, the ancient Maya calendar went out awhile back. ect.
There are plenty of Christians throughout the millennia that formed doomsday predictions. But not just Christians show this tendency.

The Church of Laodicea is arriving on schedule for the last days as prophesied:

I'll tell you why. They're tired. Tired of the pain of living in a fallen world with all its dangers, troubles, and sicknesses, tired of burying all their loved ones. They believe J*sus will be a literal messianic king, not a "spiritual" or "social" one. They look forward to him ruling the world (literally) from (literal) Jerusalem in a fully restored world with no more pain, death, sickness, or sorrow.
You on the other hand claim the messianic advent was 2000 years ago. You claim the world has already been redeemed and the kingdom is right now. Yet nothing has changed. Evil still exists. False religions still exist. Death still exists. If this is your "kingdom of G-d" it is a great disappointment.
What is the "second coming" to you? Doomsday. The "final judgment." The destruction of the material world by fire. The "dies iraea(sp?)." No wonder you prefer to postpone the "second coming" for trillions of years. Better to continue living in this life, walking a tightrope over the yawning maw of hell, than see the horrible "second coming."
That is, of course, unless you believe in your own "millennium" under the Great Catholic Monarch, the Emperor of the Last Days, the Restored House of Bourbon, the kingdom of Mary, or what not.
To prefer that this fallen and painful state of the world continue indefinitely rather than face the "return" of your "messiah" says a lot about you.
