🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem🇮🇱 (8/9/26)[Prayer]

Personalities
2 Samuel 1:17-27
David’s Lament for Saul and Jonathan
17 David took up this lament concerning Saul and his son Jonathan, 18 and he ordered that the people of Judah be taught this lament of the bow (it is written in the Book of Jashar):
19 “A gazelle[a] lies slain on your heights, Israel.
How the mighty have fallen!
20 “Tell it not in Gath,
proclaim it not in the streets of Ashkelon,
lest the daughters of the Philistines be glad,
lest the daughters of the uncircumcised rejoice.
21 “Mountains of Gilboa,
may you have neither dew nor rain,
may no showers fall on your terraced fields.[b]
For there the shield of the mighty was despised,
the shield of Saul—no longer rubbed with oil.
22 “From the blood of the slain,
from the flesh of the mighty,
the bow of Jonathan did not turn back,
the sword of Saul did not return unsatisfied.
23 Saul and Jonathan—
in life they were loved and admired,
and in death they were not parted.
They were swifter than eagles,
they were stronger than lions.
24 “Daughters of Israel,
weep for Saul,
who clothed you in scarlet and finery,
who adorned your garments with ornaments of gold.
25 “How the mighty have fallen in battle!
Jonathan lies slain on your heights.
26 I grieve for you, Jonathan my brother;
you were very dear to me.
Your love for me was wonderful,
more wonderful than that of women.
27 “How the mighty have fallen!
The weapons of war have perished!”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Almighty and Eternal God,
How Excellent is Your Name Over All The Earth!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise,
For Your Alone Are Holy,
You Alone Are God,
You Alone Are The Most High!
Omnipotent,
Omniscient,
and Omnipresent,
You See The End From The Beginning
And The Beginning From The End.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

My sister just got a long, vituperative letter from a former band member. She was stunned by it, because they had recently had a rehearsal which had gone well. The letter was in a chat room, where a few people could see it, and it was appalling. She let me read it, and, three days later, I'm STILL enraged! One of the other band members wrote a sweet reply:
"I'm sorry the trio didn't work out for you.
Perhaps it wasn't a good fit.
Best Wishes to you in your future endeavors"
That was it. (I had a much better response, but it wasn't my band so not my business!) However, I wish that my sister had copied the screed and posted it so all the world could see what type of person the guitar player is. NAW...Let It Go.
The Internet is a Strange Thing. People say things online they wouldn't dream of saying in person.
When a famous person dies, those who were opposed to him can get VERY nasty. It doesn't matter what side of the aisle the dead person was from, the smug comments can be disconcerting. Death is something we all will have to face someday.
David's relationship with Saul was complicated. Although David had been anointed by Samuel to be a Future King, David never tried to usurp Saul or manipulate him. In fact, he served faithfully as a Warrior, Music Therapist, Son-In-Law, and Friend, until Saul started throwing spears at him. He had at least two chances to kill Saul and get away with it, but he chose not to.
His respect for Saul's Position, which had been the Anointing of God, prevailed, to the point where it was detrimental to his own LIFE.
Years ago, I opened for a very famous Country Star, and he didn't like me. This Star said horrible things about me to the Venue Promoter, and I was "blackballed" from the Venue for LIFE. I was so devastated but could do nothing about it, so I wrote a song about it (without saying the artist's name) and put it on my first CD. The name of the song was:
"The People You Meet When You Claw Your Way Up
Are The Same When You're On Your Way Down."
The Artist ended up getting saved, was very supportive of our troops overseas, and has now gone on to be with the Lord. So I'll probably meet him in heaven, and we can have a little chat.
Anyway, the Title of David's Song could be:
"How The Mighty Have Fallen".
The song, however, tells us more about David's Personality than it does Saul's.

Amen to your word and prayer, some personality conflicts really stick to your brain. Hard to ignore, takes effort to ignore, letting go is God’s way, but our stubborness gets in the way always wanting to make things right.

Yes. I guess we've all been there at one time or another.

Psalm 91
1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
2 will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.
14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.
16 With long life I will satisfy them,
and show them my salvation.
