🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem🇮🇱 (7/19/26)[Prayer]

Personalities
1 Samuel 16:14-23
David in Saul’s Service
14Â Now the Spirit of the Lord had departed from Saul, and an evil[a] spirit from the Lord tormented him.
15 Saul’s attendants said to him, “See, an evil spirit from God is tormenting you. 16 Let our lord command his servants here to search for someone who can play the lyre. He will play when the evil spirit from God comes on you, and you will feel better.”
17 So Saul said to his attendants, “Find someone who plays well and bring him to me.”
18 One of the servants answered, “I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows how to play the lyre. He is a brave man and a warrior. He speaks well and is a fine-looking man. And the Lord is with him.”
19 Then Saul sent messengers to Jesse and said, “Send me your son David, who is with the sheep.” 20 So Jesse took a donkey loaded with bread, a skin of wine and a young goat and sent them with his son David to Saul.
21 David came to Saul and entered his service. Saul liked him very much, and David became one of his armor-bearers. 22 Then Saul sent word to Jesse, saying, “Allow David to remain in my service, for I am pleased with him.”
23Â Whenever the spirit from God came on Saul, David would take up his lyre and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Blessed Are You,

Oh LORD, Our God,

King Of The Universe,

Who Has given us this Day,

This Moment,

And Has Brought us Together for Your Purpose.

We Bring the Sacrifice of Praise

Into the House of The LORD,

For You Alone Are Worthy,

You Alone Are LORD,

You Alone Are The One True God.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

One of my favorite Loony Tunes Character is "Taz", the Tasmanian Devil. Based on an actual creature, which is so vicious that even mating can result in death or injury, the cartoon character is totally uncontrollable. However, the cartoon character is tamable only by music. I always preferred Warner Brothers over Disney, and Taz was my favorite.
Who knew that the idea of a "Devil" that could only be soothed by music, could have come from the Bible!
Three incredible personalities converge in the next few chapters. We shall see Samuel again, but right now we will be looking at Saul and David. Saul has alienated himself from God by trying to do things "His Way" instead of God's Way. David was still out tending his father's flock, even though he had been secretly anointed King by Samuel. As well as being a shepherd, David is also a Singer-Songwriter, and plays a portable harp called a Kinor. His songs are so good that word has gotten out.
Meanwhile, Saul is suffering. His own rebellion has brought about a vulnerability to harmful spirits. This could have been in the form of insomnia, depression, or mental illness. The Bible tells us that it's spiritual, and that God is allowing this spiritual sickness to happen. Yet, it was Saul's own rebellion and disobedience that opened him up to it. The Ancient Greeks called this attitude Hubris, and it was the downfall of many a fine hero.
Like "Taz", Saul was soothed by David's Music. But, Saul was only soothed. He was "stirred but not shaken". The Music didn't make him repent. It was just a placebo.
I was a Music Therapist for years. I created programs designed especially for dementia patients, and worked at Care Centers all over New England, long before "Music Therapy" became a separate discipline requiring College Courses and certification. I knew in my heart that I wasn't "Curing" dementia, but just giving the patients an hour or two of peace and fond memories.
While "Taz" may be my favorite Cartoon Character, David is my favorite Old Testament Personality. For a tiny part of my life, I actually walked in his sandals. Just a little bit. I've been a "Taz" too, on occasion.

Amen to your word in prayer. These are Harrari Harps, constructed from the original design. A husband and wife team with a store on Jaffa street in Jerusalem, very close to the Old City of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. His wife played and sang a song for us in the store.

Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America-250.
True story:
My aunt, who lived to 98, had gone over to the dark side (she said she was a witch.) From notes we got from her lawyer detailing her final days of care, she was undergoing music therapy before she passed in a VA hospital (she had been a nurse in WW2.)

actually it was Jaffa street in Jerusalem, it goes from the Jaffa Gate and heads up to the left to an open market and lots of outdoor restaurants on a pedestrian street area. Very nice.

Aha! That’s different.
Did you know “Jaffa” means “Beautiful”?
Jaffa St, and the jaffa gate were beautiful back in 1984 when I was there, but there have been so many upgrades and improvements to the area, all keeping with the ancient archiyecture and using the soft pink Jerusalem Stone.
The City of David excavations are amazing too.

You said that in the post.
I must have been so dazzled by the pictures that I didn’t read it thoroughly.
