🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem🇮🇱 (7/18/26)[Prayer]

Personalities
1 Samuel 16:1-13
Samuel Anoints David
16 The Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king.”
2 But Samuel said, “How can I go? If Saul hears about it, he will kill me.”
The Lord said, “Take a heifer with you and say, ‘I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.’ 3 Invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what to do. You are to anoint for me the one I indicate.”
4 Samuel did what the Lord said. When he arrived at Bethlehem, the elders of the town trembled when they met him. They asked, “Do you come in peace?”
5 Samuel replied, “Yes, in peace; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Consecrate yourselves and come to the sacrifice with me.” Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.
6 When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed stands here before the Lord.”
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
8 Then Jesse called Abinadab and had him pass in front of Samuel. But Samuel said, “The Lord has not chosen this one either.” 9 Jesse then had Shammah pass by, but Samuel said, “Nor has the Lord chosen this one.” 10 Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The Lord has not chosen these.” 11 So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?”
“There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.”
Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”
12 So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features.
Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”
13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
Our God,
How Excellent Is Your Name Over All The Earth!
The Earth is Yours, and The Fullness Thereof,
You Have Created It,
and All It Contains.
It Is You,
The Eternal,
Omnipotent,
Omniscient,
Omnipresent,
Blessed Are You,
Oh LORD, Our God,
King of The Universe,
Who has Brought us to this Day!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

A dear friend suggested I change my Readings from The King James Version to the NIV. While The KJV is glorious for Psalms, Proverbs, and the Opening Chapters of Genesis, The NIV serves better when telling a story. A Bible Story that includes military maneuvers, tactical mistakes, and other narrative elements, works so much better in the NIV. I hope you don't mind the switcheroo!
We're still looking at the personality of Samuel, and there's a lot going on with that in this chapter. From the previous chapter, one might infer that Samuel had totally dismissed Saul, but here we see that he's heartbroken about the whole debacle. He is in mourning over Saul's failure to obey God, and his failure as King. He seems to be paralyzed by his disappointment, perhaps because he may see this as his OWN failure as well as Saul's.
Finally, God shakes Samuel out of his lethargy.
"How long are you gonna sit around feeling sorry for yourself?" is not the KJV or even the NIV, but that's MY interpretation (The MLK Paraphrase😇).
Then God tells Saul to fill his flask with Olive Oil and get moving.
How many times have you been involved in a ministry or endeavor that you were certain was ordained by God? When the effort fails, for one reason or another, did you feel like the whole thing was a mistake from the beginning? Did you begin to doubt that you ever heard from God in the first place? Did you blame somebody (or even yourself) for the failure? Did it stop you from wanting to get "involved" ever again? (I could tell you some real horror stories!)
I think I can safely say that we've all been there, done that.
What's God's solution? He tells Samuel to get up, stop mourning (whining?) and fill his flask with oil. That's a sure sign that something BIG is coming up.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

I had a little KJV for my Jerusalem Trip in 1984.
We are blessed to have so many GOOD translations (and unfortunately some really bad paraphrases as well!😱)
Thank You, Holy Spirit, for your discernment! 😀
