It is a patriarchal religion, in that God identifies Himself as our Father and created fatherhood and the family as an illustration of His relationship with us.
As for colonizing, God wants all people to know Him, but in this life, offers us love and a choice instead of force and submission.

Before those "archaic beliefs," they used to send people to be get mauled in the Coliseum, women were treated as subhuman property, and tyrants ruled everywhere.
