"Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God..." - 2 Peter 3:11-12
- σπεύδοντας instead of hastening (hurry) can be translated also to desire earnestly. It comes from the heart's desire that Jesus Christ our redeemer come soon and free us from this body of death, to complete His work in us.
Hastening (Greek speudo “hurry [by extra effort]”)
The coming of the day of God suggests that, by living holy lives, Christians can actually affect the time of the Lord’s return.
That does not mean, of course, that the Lord has not foreknown and foreordained when Jesus will return, but when God set that day, he also ordained that it would happen after all of his purposes for saving believers and building his kingdom in this present age had been accomplished...
Those purposes are accomplished from a human perspective, when Christians share the gospel with others, and pray, and advance the kingdom of God in other ways, they do “hasten” the fulfillment of God’s purposes, including Christ’s return.

The Great and Terrible Day of the Lord is a biblical prophetic event, primarily identified with Jesus’ Second Coming and the final judgment. The phrase appears in Joel 2:31 and Malachi 4:5, foretelling a time of cosmic signs and divine wrath before the Lord’s return.
Meaning: While often interpreted as “great” for the righteous and “terrible” for the wicked, linguistic analysis suggests the term “great” intensifies “terrible,” describing an extraordinarily dreadful and powerful day of judgment for all, particularly the wicked.
Signs: The day will be preceded by supernatural signs, including the sun turning to darkness and the moon to blood, as well as the return of the prophet Elijah to turn hearts back to God.
Outcome: It is a day of wrath, destruction, and fire for the unrepentant, while the righteous are promised protection and eventual salvation through faith in Christ.
Sister, I greatly appreciate your ministry here: thank you for carrying the torch for King Jesus Lord and Messiah.
Be desirous of Him returning.
And I sure am.
I would be OK if he came tomorrow.
This has been interpreted to mean that God will punish all disobedience when our obedience is complete. In Revelation, we see this fulfilled by the 144,000 Jewish Christians.
Going after Iran has nothing to do with theology.
Has more to do with things such as their development of missiles with the range to strike not just Europe but North America as well, carrying some unpleasant payload.
