Trinity Bible Church “pastor” Mark Driscoll is under fire for implying on X that Jesus’ mother may have considered aborting him if a Planned Parenthood had been nearby.
The comment drew widespread condemnation from both Catholics and Protestants, who were united in their criticism of him. At the time of writing, Driscoll’s post had more than 126,000 impressions and only 129 likes; resulting in being heavily ratioed.
Notably, while there was no Planned Parenthood 2,000 years ago, abortion was well known and widely practiced in the ancient Roman world. Physicians commonly prescribed herbs, bloodletting, fasting, and extreme physical duress, rather than Mifepristone or using a scalpel and speculum.
Driscoll later added that he was using anachronism for rhetorical effect.
We last covered Mark Driscoll in our article Fox News Driscoll, which we catalogued him openly lying to his congregants, and also after we commented on his bizarre porno-visions:

wow. What a fool
The “Reverend” Jim Jones, was fifty years ahead of his time.
False prophets are easy to identify.
They give themselves away by what they say and do.
He won’t be going to the happy place when he dies.
Depends… was he trying to say that if planned parenthood al had been around then Mary might’ve aborted the messiah and that’s why it’s bad?
It’s not an eloquent argument but I could at least see it.
Ingrid Schlueter discussed the corruption with Mr. Driscoll many years ago. When I was in trouble at church, I relied on her material to assist in exposing the corruption.
She was right then. Driscoll is a troublemaker.
All the f’ing pearl clutching. The guy has a point. How many expectant mothers have been convinced to murder their babies by Godless Planned Parenthood?
You keep digging up these fringe pastors and churches that speak only for themselves, while ignoring the things your pope says who speaks for all Roman Catholics by his office.
What’s your point in posting?
The efforts of man cannot thwart the will of God. The birth, life, death, and resurrection of Christ are the center of His plan for all eternity.
That sounds like precisely what he was trying to say. But, nowadays Christians don’t think beyond what the MSM tells them.
What’s his Twitter handle?
clicksforsatan?
He was talking about had PP existed back then, they would have been actively tempting Mary to consider it as it was an “unplanned pregnancy”.
He’s not saying she’d have done it, just that she would have been tempted by PP, to illustrate the evils of PP.
“Preaching” in a Mickey Mouse shirt - appropriate
As long as they spelled his name right...
You probably take a different path depending on whether your pregnancy test involves peeing on a stick or Gabriel appearing in front of you. (Yes, I know Luke 1:31 is “will conceive” not “have conceived”)
Friggin frauds.

I don't take it from this that he is implying that Mary would have pursued an abortion if there were PP's around then. There is no question, considering she was (at the very least) a godly woman, her direct knowledge of who this Child was, and the general pro-life ethics of her Jewish community, that she would have even for a moment even considered doing such a thing. Perhaps this pastor was inferring that, considering the circumstances, she would have been under pressure to have an abortion if she had lived in a culture that supports the murderous activities of organizations like PP.
If that's what he was implying, he has a weak rhetorical point, but it was stated badly and left the impression he thinks Mary would have followed through, which is just nuts. Also, the "teen mom" remark is misleading too. Getting married and having children in that time and place was quite the norm for women. It's on the same level of scriptural ignorance that leads people to refer to Mary as an "unwed mother".
This is one of the reasons I'm not on X (or Twitter before that). The limited format makes it easier for people to say stupid things when they are trying to be profound.
That’s right.
