23 They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.

27 But the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not let them go.

28 And Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in that day thou seest my face thou shalt die.

I would like to Wish You All a Very Blessed Easter!

(Life is Full of Interesting "Coincidences". Praise the LORD, for rescuing our America Pilot, lost on Good Friday, Rescued on Easter Sunday. Hmmmm.)

The Following is the essay I wrote for this Portion of Scripture five years ago. I hope you don't mind reading it again, as it fits the Day.

In 1968, when I was a Sophomore in High School, I hung out with the "Artsy Crowd". Call us Bohemians, Beatniks, or Hippies, (sigh) that's what we were. Our clothing choices were not available in stores, so we made our own. We split the lower legs of our jeans and inserted colorful gussets to make them into bellbottoms. (I had my Dad's actual bellbottoms from WW2, so I was extra-cool.) We were outcasts at the school, which still only had two sanctioned styles of dress, "Rat" (Black Leather Jackets) or "Collegiate" (Sweaters and Pleated Skirts). We were a persecuted minority, but that added to the rebellious cache'.

The ringleader of our sorry little group was Cynthia. She wore trailing caftans and love-beads, and wore her straight blonde hair halfway down the middle of her face, so she could only see out of one eye. The one exposed eye was heavily made up to look exactly like The "Eye of Horus". I am really glad I don't have any pictures of me from that era, because we all looked ridiculous.

Yesterday, I had an errand to run in my old neighborhood. I knew it had been heavily gentrified, but I was not prepared for the vision I would encounter. It looked like Key West, Haight-Ashbury, and P-Town all rolled into one and carried to extremes. Grand old Victorian homes are painted purple and turquoise. Woke politics on posters and murals are all over the shoppe windows. And...the names of the shoppes and boutiques are so "cute" that it made me want to GAG. The clothes that made me look ridiculous fifty years ago were being proudly displayed in Vintage Clothing Stores. I felt that I had been transported into Hippie-Hell.

And...Oh Yes...The "Eye of Horus" was everywhere.

Yesterday, I posted a little table of the Egyptian Mythology surrounding "Night and Day". Here it is again to refresh your memory:

DAY:

1. The god Khepri, in the form of the Scarab Beetle, rolls the Sun across the sky.

2. The most recently deceased Pharaoh, in the form of Osiris, floats the Sun across the sky on a special boat, called the "Solar Barque".

3. Amon Ra, the actual "Sun God" flies the Sun on its daily journey on wings.

NIGHT:

1. The Cobra Snake ("Apophus" perhaps) devours the Sun at sunset and disgorges it in the morning.

2. The Sun travels through the body of the goddess Nut, whose skin is emblazoned with the stars.

3. Osiris (in the form of the deceased, mummified Pharaoh) safely transports the Sun across the darkness in the Solar Barque.

I had forgotten to mention Horus, the Hawk-Headed God, who was conceived by Isis and the mummified Osiris. Since Horus was considered the "God of Light", he is very much the subject of the next plague, along with all the aforementioned Egyptian deities.

Horus is most famous for his hawk-like eye, which is all over Egyptian Art and modern-day tattoos. Even the unscientific Ancients knew that one needs LIGHT in order to SEE, and so, the Eye was the symbol for Horus. And Light, in Ancient Egypt, came from the Sun.

The Sun was so revered that it was considered the chief of all the gods. There was a brief time in Egyptian History when ONLY the Sun was worshiped, during the reign of the heretic Pharaoh Akenaten. The priests of Amon-Ra and all the other deities, with their livelihood wrapped up in the worship of the entire Pantheon with all its cults and sects, put a swift end to THAT.

Three Days of Complete Darkness was a direct insult to the most important of the Egyptian Pantheon.

It is not a coincidence that the Darkness lasted Three Days, the same amount of time Jesus lay in His Tomb.

And yet, even with that, Pharaoh's heart was once again hardened. He still had not "Seen The Light."
