🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(3/16/26)[Prayer]

A New Study For A New Year: Personalities

Genesis 43:15-34

15 And the men took that present, and they took double money in their hand and Benjamin; and rose up, and went down to Egypt, and stood before Joseph.

16 And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his house, Bring these men home, and slay, and make ready; for these men shall dine with me at noon.

17 And the man did as Joseph bade; and the man brought the men into Joseph's house.

18 And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph's house; and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.

19 And they came near to the steward of Joseph's house, and they communed with him at the door of the house,

20 And said, O sir, we came indeed down at the first time to buy food:

21 And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, every man's money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.

22 And other money have we brought down in our hands to buy food: we cannot tell who put our money in our sacks.

23 And he said, Peace be to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father, hath given you treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought Simeon out unto them.

24 And the man brought the men into Joseph's house, and gave them water, and they washed their feet; and he gave their asses provender.

25 And they made ready the present against Joseph came at noon: for they heard that they should eat bread there.

26 And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed themselves to him to the earth.

27 And he asked them of their welfare, and said, Is your father well, the old man of whom ye spake? Is he yet alive?

28 And they answered, Thy servant our father is in good health, he is yet alive. And they bowed down their heads, and made obeisance.

29 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother's son, and said, Is this your younger brother, of whom ye spake unto me? And he said, God be gracious unto thee, my son.

30 And Joseph made haste; for his bowels did yearn upon his brother: and he sought where to weep; and he entered into his chamber, and wept there.

31 And he washed his face, and went out, and refrained himself, and said, Set on bread.

32 And they set on for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians, which did eat with him, by themselves: because the Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

33 And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth: and the men marvelled one at another.

34 And he took and sent messes unto them from before him: but Benjamin's mess was five times so much as any of their's. And they drank, and were merry with him.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
Our God,
How Excellent,
How Wonderful,
How Perfect is Your Holy Name!
We Rejoice In Your Creation, Dear Father,
But we do not worship it!
Teach us to be Wise Stewards of Your Gifts.
Teach us to Rejoice in Your Creation,
And Always Give the Glory To You!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”

I'm getting frustrated in my search for Illustrations for this Thread. I have to add tags to my search such as "Fine Art Paintings", "Orientalist Art", and "Bible Paintings" to get REAL paintings instead of AI Constructs. I was dazzled at first by the Intricate details and bright colors of AI images, but soon started noticing bizarre mistakes, such as two-headed camels and Easter eggs in Rachel's tent. The AI Images overcompensated for their lack of SOUL with intricate, repetitive patterns, and hyper-focused detail that detracted from perspective and depth-of-field. I have to admit, that as a Graphic Design Major who schlepped a Drawing Board, T-Square, Compass and Triangles every day on the MBTA for my College Years, I rejoiced when CGI was developed. It eliminated the need to "spec type", measure and plot out tiny details, and other tedious tasks. But...it's gone to far, in my humble opinion. The following is a story about Real vs. Fake, especially in Spiritual Matters:

One the corner of Washington St. and Boylston, across from The Boston Common, there was an intriguing sign on a second story window:

MADAME KUZATZKAH
GIFTED PSYCHIC
TEA LEAF READINGS

Well, of course, I and my two hippie girlfriends, Ruta and Barbara, had to check this out. So we went into the door into a dark 19th-Century Office Building with worn marble floors and no elevator. Climbing up the cast iron staircase, I had a bad feeling, but didn't want to be "uncool". The door was well marked with all kinds of crazy symbols, and we went in through a beaded curtain. It was $10.00 for a reading, which seemed cheap enough, and between the three of us, we came up with the money for ONE cup of tea. All of us drank from the cup, and then Madame Kuzatzhah began the usual fake mumbo-jumbo about a "tall handsome stranger" etc.

Then she said she needed more money to continue. The three of us rolled our eyes and said "No" and left. As we descended the cast-iron stairway, I silently said the Lord's Prayer in my head. I had no Idea where that come from, as I had not prayed in a long, long, time.. I guess the Lord Himself may have put that into my head, but anyway, outwardly we girls had a good laugh about how "fake" Madame Kuzatzkah was. But, if she was so fake, why did the Lord prompt me, a marxist, hippy, atheist at the time, to say a prayer from my childhood? There are more things in the Universe than we can ever imagine.

For a long time I wondered why Joseph, a godly man, was playing this cat-and-mouse game with his brothers. The story of the Silver Divination Cup is one of those puzzling stories of deceit, occult dabbling, and cruelty that has puzzled scholars for centuries. Some Rabbis have said that The Patriarch Joseph would NEVER practice divination. But that would mean that he was lying, both to his servants and to his brothers. And godly men don't lie either!

Other Scholars say that Joseph did indeed practice divination, using a silver cup (probably reading the dregs of the beverage, like tea leaves). This was over 400 years before Moses and the Giving of The Law, so there was no prohibition against divination. We know that Joseph always attributed his Dream-Interpretation ability to God, and there is no reason to think that he didn't also rely upon the One True God when he looked into his divination cup. He stated on more than one occasion that he himself did not possess psychic powers, but relied totally upon the Lord.

It is possible that growing up sitting at his mother's knee, that he heard stories about a similar incident with his mother and grandfather. Remember when Rachel stole Laban's idols, and then lied about them? Those idols probably ended up buried under the Oak of Forgetfulness, but the story may have given Joseph the idea about the Silver Cup.

In our Walk with the Lord, we are to eschew and abandon any occult practices (even the fake ones). The reason for this is that it shows a reliance on something other than Faith in God. It also opens the door to things that can really cause spiritual harm.

So why did Joseph go through all this nonsense and mumbo-jumbo with his brothers? Why didn't he just reveal himself right away and be straight about it?

I think that the brothers needed this in order for them to repent. They had to actually feel the fear of imprisonment, slavery, death, and bereavement in order to experience the true consequences of their horrible behavior towards Joseph and Jacob. Just telling them would not be enough. They could easily have faked repentance and not have been changed inwardly. God knew what these men needed, and influenced Joseph to string them along until just the right moment. My humble opinion, anyway.

If Madame Kuzatzkah were for real, she would have predicted that I would someday shed my hippy garb, become conservative in my politics, and be robed in the Righteousness of my Savior.

But it wasn't in the Tea Leaves. Madame Kuzatzhah was:

FAKE, FAKE, FAKE.

Joseph's actions reveal a part of his personality that is often overlooked. He too was capable of deceit and manipulation, just like his daddy Jacob. I love that the Bible doesn't sugar-coat the personalities of the all-too-human heroes of our faith.

Amen to your prayer and word. Joseph was very clever. I am thinking, did Benjamin really eat that much? And referring to the meal as a mess, well, I guess the hillbillies are right. Glad you caught the AI thing, once again, great pictures.
