🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(2/15/26)[Prayer]

A New Study For A New Year: Personalities
Genesis 26:1-17
26 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.
2 And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:
3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
6 And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:
7 And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.
8 And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.
9 And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife; and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.
10 And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.
11 And Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death. 12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him.
13 And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:
14 For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.
15 For all the wells which his father's servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.
16 And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we.
17 And Isaac departed thence, and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.

About twenty-five years ago, I opened up my email account to see a notice from my bank that my account had been frozen due to unauthorized activity. The bank was demanding that I confirm my identity and password before they would unlock it, and provided a link for me to do so. Just before clicking on the link, I looked up at the return email address. It was NOT the name of the bank, but something weird, like "kqkcyen@joeshmo.com". That sure didn't look Kosher at all to me, so I CALLED the bank and asked for Customer Service.
The lovely customer service representative (they had humans answering the phone in those days!) explained to me that this was a new kind of illegal scam called "Spoofing". The perpetrator would design an email that looked exactly like a real bank or credit company that would get you to click on the link, provide your personal information, and reveal your password. Then they would use that information to wipe out your bank account or even steal your identity. The Customer Service Rep gave me this sage advice:
"NEVER click on a link in an email from a source you don't know!"
Good Advice! In the intervening years, I get at least one spoof email a day, and sometimes more. However, the joke is on these spammers, because, if they ever wiped out my bank account, it wouldn't even cover the cost of sending out the emails. (Ha Ha)
Deception is a strategy that may work in Warfare, but, in interpersonal relationships, is a recipe for disaster. Perhaps Abraham had never related to Isaac the story about how he made the same mistake TWICE, and now Isaac was doing the same thing!
A few things jumped out at me today, even though I've read Genesis hundreds of times. (There's ALWAYS something new!):
1. "Sporting". In this context, it's obvious that Abimelech witnessed Isaac and Rebecca doing what married couples DO, and was instantly scandalized. Some translations say "caressing", and others are more explicit. It was at that moment that Abimelech realized that he had been deceived.
The Hebrew word for "sporting" (Tsachaq STRONG'S 6711) is the same word that was used to describe whatever it was that 13-year-old Ishmael did to Baby Isaac that made Sarah so angry that she threw Hagar and Ishmael out of the camp.
It's also the root word of Isaac's name. It does make Sarah's wrath more understandable.
2. "Lest I Die For Her: Both Abraham and Isaac dreamed up this deception because neither of them wanted to die for the sake of his wife, no matter how much he was in love with her.
Some women bristle at St. Paul's admonition of "submitting to their husbands", but they often don't take note of a husband's responsibility to LOVE his wife. Check out this Scripture passage:
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her...(Ephesians 5:25)
If the Church is indeed the Bride of Christ, then it has been proven that Jesus DID die for her. How many men would do the same?
Even the Great patriarchs of Our faith failed to do that.

Psalm 91
1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
2 will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.
14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.
