🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(1/17/26)[Prayer]

A New Study For A New Year: Personalities
Genesis 12:1-8
12 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
4 So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.
6 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.
7 And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.
8 And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the Lord, and called upon the name of the Lord.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Dear Heavenly Father
My LORD,
My Light,
When It Seems I am Surrounded by Darkness
You Are My Light!
You Are My Beacon!
Piercing, and Banishing the Darkness.
Shedding Light and Striking Against the Forces of Evil.
Bringing Illumination to Dispel my Ignorance,
Loneliness, and Error.
Thank You, LORD, for lighting the way.
For Being a Lamp to my Path,
And a Joy to my heart.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”
If you would like to be on or off the Daily Ping List, please let me know.

With a sigh of relief, we leave the sons of Noah behind and skip over some genealogies until we meet a new Personality, named Abram. If we hadn't skipped over the genealogies, we would have learned that Abram was a direct descendant of Shem, hence a "Semite". Somehow his father Terah had wandered far into the area we now call Iraq, to a city called "Ur". (The ruins of Ur have been found by Archaeologists. It was a real place.) Ur was a great city, and, from the context, it seems that Abram was making a nice living. He's been there for a long time, is in his 70s, and possibly ready to retire. He has no kids, which, in those days, was a real catastrophe, but, at this point Abram figured that he and his wife Sarai were too old to even hope for that to change. The Laws of nature were not on his side anymore. Here's a story from many years ago that I wrote about FAITH:
My friend Doris was without transportation for some time. I offered to teach her how to ride a motorcycle so she could get some cheap transportation, and also join me for a ride once in a while. "Oh no!" she exclaimed. "I have no sense of balance! I can't even hold a bicycle up!" I patiently explained that a motorcycle balances itself, as long as you are going forward. My bike, "Blue" weighs 650 lbs. You think I can hold it up? No. It is held up by the laws of Gravity, Centrifugal Force, and Inertia, the three forces that keep the Universe going. My own personal strength (what there is of it), and my sense of balance have NOTHING to do with it. While Doris may not have had faith in herself, surely she had faith in the Laws of the Universe.
Well, that worked, and soon she was trading up her little Honda Rebel 250 for a Sportster.
I just finished reading an excellent book called "Galileo's Daughter". It was a Biography of Galileo which was extracted from the many personal letters from his daughter, Sr. Maria Celeste, who had been a cloistered nun from her early teens. Her letters were so frequent and expressive that we can glean Galileo's entire life just from her side of the conversation.
Despite the fact that non-believers like to use Galileo as an example of "Faith vs. Science", Galileo was a man of faith. His run-in with the Inquisition and the Banning of his books were the result of political infighting, petty jealousies, and rivalry among philosophers. Even the Pope was "for Galileo before he was against him." The irony was that the "science" that Galileo was questioning was not even Christian at all. The theory of a stationary Earth and a traveling Sun went back to Aristotle and Ptolemy, two Pagan Philosophers. How it got to be "Christian Doctrine" came from a thread that traced through St. Thomas Aquinas and others. In any case, Galileo was not an atheist. In fact, from his writings, upon discovering the Moons of Jupiter or Sunspots through his rudimentary telescope, we can sense his Faith expressed as a Sense of Wonder, just like the feeling I get when looking Hubble Photos of the Universe. My first reaction to those amazing views of Eternity is"My God, How Great Thou Art!". And so, at least in my view, (and Galileo's apparently), Faith and Science are Loving Sisters, not Enemies.
A big focus of Galileo's research was regarding the laws of Motion and Gravity. It is from these two subjects that we can learn a lot about Faith. Every time you get into an automobile, hop on a bike, or board an airplane, you are tacitly expressing your Faith in the Laws of Gravity and Motion. Yet, nobody has ever seen Gravity, Inertia, or Centrifugal Force. We see the effects of them, but we never see the actual "thing". Yet we know that it IS a "thing", otherwise, we would never leave our homes for fear that Gravity would lose its hold on us and we would get flung off into space. Ask a non-believer if he would jump out of an airplane without a parachute. Even if the non-believer claimed he didn't believe in the Law of Gravity, I'm willing to bet be won't do it.
The Author of the Book of Hebrews expressed it perfectly in the first sentence of Chapter 11.
"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."
Nobody has actually seen God, but we see His work every minute of every day. And without Faith, prayer is useless. It's like the Laws of Gravity and Motion. It's the Assurance of Things NOT Seen.
Abram, Galileo, and Doris all had one thing in common. They Believed in something they couldn't see. Galileo had to defend his theory. Abram had to leave Ur. Doris had to let out the clutch and put her feet on the pegs.
It took FAITH to get them out of their "comfort zones".
Abram's Personality is complex, and not always wise of pleasant. But...he had FAITH.

Amen to your prayer and word about faith. I had a lesson in gravity too when I turned into a paved parking lot with my little honda 90, and ran over a patch of sand on top of it.
