‘I accept Jesus Christ as my lord and savior, and I look forward to spending an eternity with him,’ Adams declared in the message, adding that he hoped he was ‘still qualified for entry’ into heaven upon his death.

Scott Adams, the creator of the long-running Dilbert comic strip whose art satirized the typical American workplace, died on Jan. 13 at 68 years old after a battle with cancer.

“I accept Jesus Christ as my lord and savior, and I look forward to spending an eternity with him,” Adams declared in the message, adding that he hoped he was “still qualified for entry” into heaven upon his death.

“I had an amazing life. I gave it everything I had,” he wrote in the statement. “If you got any benefits from my work, I’m asking you to pay it forward as best you can. That is the legacy I want.”

He continued to be his own man and a humorist right up to the end. One of my heroes as a Trump supporter. Sorry for his pain. Grateful for his existence.

He explicitly explained that he is not a believer. Instead, he offers up that on the chance that Christianity is valid, he’ll make that supplication—since there is nothing to lose otherwise anyway.

So glad Jesus does not give us the middle finger.

Normally I would think that wouldn’t work, but God can do what he wills.

Pascal’s Wager.

But I think Pascal was a bit more sincere in his faith.

In his letter he wrote to his ex-wife, he said he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior.

But he well explained why—not out of belief. Read the letter posted at the top of this thread.

“”It was the ultimate Scott Adams approach to life.””

***

Yeah... procrastinate re: salvation right up until the very last moment and then throw a “hail Mary” pass. I hope it worked for him, but I wouldn’t push the envelope like that. I’ve never been that lucky.

My personal take is... he missed a great opportunity to “add the most to peoples lives”. He could have done a lot of good by making his story a cautionary tale... ie don’t put off your personal salvation until you are at death’s door.

Here’s to hoping that God’s plan for him is “better late than never”....lol.

A modern day “Thief on the Cross”?
He cut it pretty close too.
But Jesus was right there beside him in the flesh.
Hopefully Jesus was beside Scott too.

“but God can do what he wills.”

Exactly. I hope Mr. Adams has found beauty and happiness in his (temporary) departure from embodied life.

Blaise Pascals famous 17th century wager posited that it was more rational to believe God than not to. Because the reward in believing is infinitely good. If one doesn’t believe in God there is no reward. Makes rational sense to believe, you don’t lose anything

I am sure God has judged Mr. Adams righteously. After all, Jesus promised the thief on the cross next to him that the thief would be in paradise after the thief requested that he be remembered by Christ.

Scott, in the end did a checks and balance equation a d wrote the words, "I accept Jesus Chirist as my lord and savior" .

He came for the meal, not to h9nor the host.

I listened to cwsa and he was brilliant in what he had to say. But his atheism will be his biggest mistake.
