Introduction
1 Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled[a] among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. 3 With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven
Hallowed be Your Most Holy Name!
How We Long For Your Kingdom,
How We Wait For Your Will to be Done,
Here on Earth,
As it already is, in Heaven!
Guard Our Hearts and Our Minds, LORD.
Let Us Not Be led Astray,
By Notions and Ideas,
False gods and beliefs,
Or even our own prideful notions.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,

To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

In the Early 20th Century, it was possible to buy a whole house in a kit, and put it together yourself. This was called The Sears Craftsman House, and plays a pivotal role in this amusing scene from Jean Shepherd's "Phantom of the Open Hearth".. It was very important to follow the directions perfectly and in order.

The Sears Craftsman House used many Traditional and Neoclassical design structures, mostly borrowed from Ancient Greece, such as pilasters and pediments, and a Sears House in its original state is highly prized in the real estate market today.

In 1975, my late husband and I bought a Craftsman House in Boston, MA. It was a two-family, and had been built in 1926. It still had the old Furnaces and Ancient Electrical wiring, which needed to be upgraded before we could pass papers. We bought it from the Original Owner, who had never modernized anything in all those years. This wasn't good in terms of plumbing or electrical matters, but was marvelous in terms of Interior Design. The original gumwood trim, hardwood floors, and Neoclassical Columns remained intact. We eventually sold the house in 1985, and moved on. The house has since been converted into two Condominiums for over a half million each. Although the Kitchens were upgraded, they kept the Craftsman Decor.

The Nativity Story is told in two of the four Gospels, Matthew and Luke. Both Gospels are in Greek, but, while Matthew's is in "everyday" Greek, Luke's language is a little "classier". He starts his Narrative as a Salutation to someone named "Theophilus". In Greek, that means "Person Who Loves God". Was he a real person? Perhaps Luke was talking to you and me with that salutation. His Book of Acts starts out the same way, addressing this same "Theophilus".

Luke was also a Medical Doctor, a Physician in the Greek Tradition. He knew about things like Geriatrics, Pregnancy, Menopause, and perhaps, even the causes of Aphasia (muteness). Dr. Luke was the perfect person to tell this story, as he knew that several of the events in his narrative could ONLY be classified as "MIRACLES". As well as being a Man of Science, Dr Luke was also a Man of Faith.

We get most of the Christmas Story from Dr. Luke, in a very elegant and civilized style of writing. It's as Sturdy, Reliable, Elegant, and Enduring as a Craftsman Bungalow.
