One line in the familiar hymn “Amazing Grace” says, “I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see.” We may have sung it a thousand times without realizing what lost means. The term lost is used in the Bible and in Christian circles to refer to people who have not yet found eternal life in Christ. Jesus said, “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). Those who are spiritually lost are separated from God and unable to find their way back to Him.

THERE it is !!! Nobody is going to get “SAVED” when they don’t realize they are DOOMED.
I had ALWAYS assumed that “I was going to Heaven” because .. . well, I hadn’t killed anybody. I thought that I was GOOD with the Creator of the Universe.
Then, a friend at work gave me a KJV Bible and I read Ephesians 2:8-9 that evening:
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
THAT changed my LIFE !

The usual doctrinal fare aside,
The title made me think of a couple of things:
1. "Teshuvah" as the return of the lost/last letter hei [of the Tetragrammaton]
2. Thanksgiving: חג ההודיה
Thanksgiving because if you combine the two 'bookend' heis back into a yud, you get a Jewish holiday: חג יהודי
Like with Sarai, it all depends on the mother to provide.
And Thanksgiving kicks off the Christmas holiday season.
And that, in turn, reminded me of the little plan hatched between David and Jonathan:
1 Samuel 20:6 If thy father at all miss me, then say, David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Bethlehem his city: for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.
Great. What was he thinking? That's doesn't look believable, does it. Every two-bit relative showing up out of nowhere, packed in, no room, weird uncouth sleeping arrangements.. it's truly an annual sacrifice. Like David couldn't wait to participate?
