🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(11/23/25)[Prayer]

The Scriptures in Handel’s “Messiah”
Isaiah 40:11
11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
Matthew 11:28-29
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD Our God,
How Holy is Your Name over All the Earth!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise.
You Alone Are Holy, Righteous, and Just,
The One True God of Jerusalem, Israel, the Whole World, and the Universe!
How Awesome You Are, Sacred and Pure,
That The Angels Praise and Worship you Day and Night Eternally!
Set Apart, Distinct from Your Creation
Awesome and So Infinitely Beyond Our poor power to Grasp
And Yet You Continue to reach Down and Touch us With your Word.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”
If you would like to be on or off the Daily Ping List, please let me know.

Tippy, an Australian Cattle Dog, is sometimes mistaken for an Australian Shepherd. I patiently explain that Sheep need to be "led", but Cattle need to be "Driven". Hence, the Aussie Cattle Dog is also known as a "Blue Heeler", because they nip at the heels of the cattle to keep them moving.
There is a delightful family of Australian Cattle Dogs that is featured in the hottest cartoon in the world right now. The Heeler Family consists of Mom and Dad and two daughters age six and four. The six-year-old, named Bluey, is a nice doggie but can be bossy at times. She is, of course, a Blue Heeler.
When my husband died, my brothers and sisters came to Florida to attend his funeral. I asked my brother to read Psalm 23, using my husband's New American Standard Bible. Tom took the Bible up to the podium, and once he was up there, realized that he had left his reading glasses back in Massachusetts.
As he started the reading, I knew right away that it was the King James Version of Psalm 23 that was coming from my brother's lips, even though it was a NASB Version on the lectern. How did my brother know the KJV so perfectly that he was able to recite it as if he were doing a reading? He wasn't a particularly religious man.
Then it dawned on me. Tom and I were only a year apart in age and had attended the same elementary school.
He must have had Miss Marcus for second grade, just like me! She read Psalm 23 to us every morning. King James Version, of course!
Psalm 23 is more than just a beautiful song (In ANY Translation!). It tells of a very special relationship between God and His People. It is different than that of the pagan world. Sheep do not spend their lives trying to "appease" an angry shepherd! Nor are they like cattle, who must be driven to market from behind by cowboys (or Blue Heelers, for that matter). A Good Shepherd knows His sheep by name, and cares for them. A hired hand does not act in the same way. Jesus uses this analogy to great effect in the Book of John.
Here is today's link: "He Shall Feed His Flock". It is my favorite solo aria from Handel's Messiah.
The idea of The LORD as a "Shepherd" is central to the Judeo-Christian tradition and goes all the way back to Abraham. King David crystallizes this idea in his magnificent 23rd Psalm. Both Jeremiah and Jesus contrast the idea of good vs. bad shepherds, the True Shepherd vs. the hireling. In this beautiful passage from Isaiah, sung in the "Pastoral" style by an Alto, we get the feeling of being held and comforted, nurtured and protected, happy and at peace.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
”Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” (Hosea 6:3 NIV)

This is my favorite song. Speaking of sad occasions, like funerals—I asked and it was sung at my mother’s funeral.
Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.
