Grant here. The left’s favorite causes these days all seem to circle around “freedom,” “equality,” and “women’s rights.” Yet somehow, in their latest wave of “Free Palestine” hysteria, they’ve managed to align themselves with one of the most authoritarian, patriarchal, and intolerant ideologies on Earth. Islam, in its literal and widely practiced form, contradicts nearly every progressive value they claim to defend. And still, they seem blissfully unaware of that fact, despite mountains of evidence. Let’s break it down.

A recent tweet resurfaced featuring a study titled “Shari’a and Violence in American Mosques,” which found that 81% of mosques surveyed across the U.S. contained texts promoting jihad or hostility toward non-Muslims. Even more alarming, 84% of those mosques had imams who endorsed or preached directly from those materials during services. These aren’t fringe radicals overseas. These are institutions operating openly in American neighborhoods, while the same liberals who demonize Christian churches for preaching against abortion are out waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans they don’t even understand.

The academic study titled “Shari’a and Violence in American Mosques”

– The study found that 81% of the mosques surveyed contained texts or materialsthat advocated or justified violence in the name of Sharia (Islamic law) or jihad. This included calls for establishing a Sharia-based political order through force or portraying violent jihad as a religious duty.

– In 84% of those mosques, the lead imam recommended or endorsed these texts during services – 51% had texts explicitly advocating violence

While this particular study was conducted back in 2011, Islamist beliefs haven’t exactly softened in the years since.

There are plenty of examples, but one case in Michigan stands out. Fun fact: Michigan actually has one of the largest Arab-American populations in the country, so it’s no surprise that there are more than a few examples of extreme Islamist influence showing up there.

Take Hamtramck, a small city just outside Detroit that was once a Polish community. Its now majority-Muslim city council voted to ban Pride flags on city property, which naturally sent liberals into a frenzy. Yet these are the same people who proudly wave both Pride and Palestinian flags side by side. The hypocrisy literally couldn’t be more glaring.

In 2015, many liberal residents in Hamtramck, Michigan, celebrated as their city attracted international attention for becoming the first in the United States to elect a Muslim-majority city council.

They viewed the power shift and diversity as a symbolic but meaningful rebuke of the Islamophobic rhetoric that was a central theme of then Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s campaign.

This week many of those same residents watched in dismay as a now fully Muslim and socially conservative city council passed legislation banning Pride flags from being flown on city property that had – like many others being flown around the country – been intended to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.

Muslim residents packing city hall erupted in cheers after the council’s unanimous vote, and on Hamtramck’s social media pages, the taunting has been relentless: “Fagless City”, read one post, emphasized with emojis of a bicep flexing.

In a tense monologue before the vote, Councilmember Mohammed Hassan shouted his justification at LGBTQ+ supporters: “I’m working for the people, what the majority of the people like.”

While Hamtramck is still viewed as a bastion of multiculturalism, the difficulties of local governance and living among neighbors with different cultural values quickly set in following the 2015 election. Some leaders and residents are now bitter political enemies engaged in a series of often vicious battles over the city’s direction, and the Pride flag controversy represents a crescendo in tension.

“There’s a sense of betrayal,” said the former Hamtramck mayor Karen Majewski, who is Polish American. “We supported you when you were threatened, and now our rights are threatened, and you’re the one doing the threatening.”

Then there was the awkward moment when several U.S. Muslim organizations publicly opposed abortion rights during the Roe v. Wade battle. They openly stood against one of the left’s most sacred causes. You’d think that would’ve been a wake-up call for all the liberals parading around in their “Free Palestine” shirts, but of course, it wasn’t.

More conservative scholars of Islamic law said that after 120 days, abortion is prohibited, except in a case where the mother’s life is in danger. Abortion after 120 days, some Muslim community members say, amounts to “murder”. The Texas and Mississippi laws, the conservative scholars have argued, are not far from what scholars with the most expansive interpretations would have allowed.

In early December 2021, seven Muslim American organisations, including HEART, published a letter arguing that Muslims must oppose the abortion ban. Some Muslims disagreed with their position, including Ihsan Bagby, associate professor in the department of Islamic Studies at the University of Kentucky. Speaking at a webinar also in December, Bagby argued that Muslims should not be publicly behind either side of the argument.

“The Islamic view is in the middle, and we should stick to it. We don’t need to be cheering on the ‘women have a right to their body’, as if it’s an absolute right, and we don’t need to be on the right of the pro-life people, because their intentions are to make abortions illegal across the board in all situations,” Bagby said.

Bagby cited a non-written consensus made by the Fiqh Council of North America, an association of Islamic scholars, that abortion should be allowed up to 120 days, basing it on an authentic hadith about when ensoulment occurs. “Before that it’s a life, after that, it becomes a human and killing it is the same or approximate to the killing of a human. I don’t think we should give that up,” Bagby said.

DEBRIEFING

The irony here is thicker than a ball of falafel. You really have to stop and wonder how liberals, who claim to champion women, minorities, and the “oppressed,” have somehow aligned themselves with an ideology that rejects nearly everything they stand for.

There’s no single reason for it. Some of it traces back to the George W. Bush era, when siding with the Middle East became a lazy way to “resist the establishment.” That same mentality now fuels their reflexive opposition to Israel, since in their minds, Israel equals “conservative.”

But if we’re being honest, the left’s love affair with Palestine and Islam as a whole makes absolutely no sense. Most of them couldn’t tell you why they’re waving that flag beyond it feeling like the trendy, “woke” thing to do.

If liberals had any sense, they’d bow out of all conflicts involving Islam. But they truly can’t help themselves. Everything is a political performance, even if it means standing shoulder to shoulder with people who would never tolerate their beliefs. The cold truth is that a majority of Palestinians wouldn’t just disagree with liberal ideology; they’d punish it. Like biblical-style stonings. Yet liberals keep cheering them on like it’s a college protest.

And circling back to that 2011 study, 81 percent of mosques surveyed in the United States were found to promote jihad and hostility toward non-Muslims. Eighty-one percent.

Those numbers do not represent a fringe minority. That alone should serve as a wake-up call to all Americans. And it’s not just conservatives who need to hear it. It’s every American who still believes this country should stay free, grounded, and sane.

I spent a wonderful week in Turkey many years ago. Our English-speaking guiide. took us into the beautiful Blue Mosque in Istanbul. Usually only men allowed into the mosque, but our guide told me I should just put a scarf over my head when I walked in with him and my husband.

He was right. Though Turkish women were’t allow, the few men inside shook their heads denoting OK.

That was before Islamist Erdogan was elected President. Today? Off with her head!!! Who knows what Mamdammit will do?

In India Muslim invasion took place 1500 years ago. Now there are more Muslims in India than any other country in the world except two, Pakistan and IIRC Indonesia. But there is no Sharia in India.
