This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. (1 John 5:14)

“All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you (1Peter 1:24-25).

FATHER GOD,

Look down at the stalemate in Congress! Look at the spectacle of Democrat legislators who are grasping to hold on to power. They don’t care about the poor who barely live paycheck to paycheck. They want the power.

May they consider the words of the Psalmist and realize they are just withered blades that will soon blow away. May they use the remainder of their days giving You the glory. May they realize You, GOD, hold their next breath.

Lord, through all the generations You have been our home! Before the mountains were born, before You gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, You are God.

You turn people back to dust, saying, “Return to dust, you mortals!” For You, a thousand years are as a passing day, as brief as a few night hours.

You sweep people away like dreams that disappear. They are like grass that springs up in the morning. In the morning it blooms and flourishes, but by evening it is dry and withered.

Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom. (Psalm 90:1-6;12)

LORD, intervene in this situation. Do not allow crooked, power hungry lawmakers force people to go hungry or steal food.

We give this to You.

In JESUS’ Name we pray. AMEN.

Lord, we are in awe that You would send a Savior for people capable of such ugliness.

We pray Lord, that this would not be a victory for the enemy.

We pray that our political leaders will find wisdom and discernment.
