Oh LORD,
Our God
Hallowed Be Your Most Holy Name,
Help us to see with Your Eyes,
Help us to hear with Your Ears,
And help us to see through the deceptions of this world.
Our Intellect and Education will not save us.
Our Careers won't save us.
Our Beloved Families can't save us.
Our Government, and even our precious Founding Documents can't save us.
Nor can our leaders, political or religious.
None have the power to save us, not our religion, friends, lovers, spouses, brothers, sisters, or parents,
Fame, fortune, ancestors or children.
We Must all stand before You, and You are the final Judge.
Only You have the Power and Grace to Save.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

I started this Thread in February 2010. I never thought I would see a Morning like This One in my Lifetime. Since I was born in 1952, during the Korean War, the world has been at war in one place or another for the last 73 years. As a child, I was particularly concerned about Nuclear War, and the Cuban Missile Crisis didn't help. This is a story I shared about "War and Peace", in this Thread, some time ago.

I just could NOT understand my Dad! The little Black and White TV told us every day, more than once, that we should have a fallout shelter, and we didn't have one! The only alternative was to cower in the corner of the basement where there were no windows or fuel tanks. Alas, the only corner without windows WAS the one with the fuel tank. I could only hope that when the APOCALYPSE came, that I would be in school at the time it happened, so I could "Duck and Cover" curl up against the wall in the school basement, put my head between my knees, and kiss my you-know-what "GOODBYE". Things got even scarier in October 1962. The Boston Globe actually had a MAP on the front page, showing the hypothetical range of Nuclear Missiles in Cuba, and here it was, The Apocalypse on my front doorstep.

Khrushchev banging his shoe at the UN, "We Will Bury You", Castro aiming missiles at us, and Dad's WW2 photos of Nagasaki didn't make it any easier.

One day, Dad realized how much distress I was experiencing due to The Apocalypse. "Get in the Car" he said. First, he took me to the piers in South Boston. He showed me the magnificent Navy Ships, not yet in mothballs, that represented the Naval Defense of our city. Then, on the way home, he took the route that led through the Blue Hills, near Mattapan where we lived. Suddenly, he turned off the main road and went up a long, curving, rural road through the woods. Then the woods opened up to reveal a strange looking military base. A guard stopped Dad's car and said, "Sorry, Sir. You can't go any further. This is a RESTRICTED AREA."

"I know," said Dad. "But my daughter is nervous about a Nuclear Attack. Could you please explain to her what you do here?"

The soldier turned to me."This is a NIKE Base, Miss. Our job is to protect the City of Boston from Nuclear Attack".

That's all I needed to hear. A sweet calm came over me, I looked the soldier in the eye and said, "Thank You."

The NIKE Base no longer exists in the Blue Hills and the buildings now house a Boy Scout Camp. The word "Apocalypse" which means "Unveiling" or "Revelation" in Greek has come to mean something totally different to me now. However, like the kind soldier at the NIKE base, God has given us reassurance that we are not to be afraid of the Apocalypse. For those who believe, it will be a Wedding Feast that is revealed.

Now, I know that the World will never know True Peace until The Messiah Returns. However, it IS Nice to at least get people to stop killing each other for a while.
