Dallas Jenkins sees the tragic murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk as an opportunity for himself and Christians in general to reflect on whether our words are perpetuating hatred or are following Jesus’ teaching to love our enemies.
“I think that we can say safely ourselves, ‘Well, we’re not capable of firing a gun and killing somebody,’” said Jenkins, who is creator and director of “The Chosen,” as well as one of the show’s co-writers.
“But there are enough crazy people out there, enough damaged people out there who could take our words,” Jenkins said, “if we say them enough, and say them publicly enough, and casually throw them out on social media and stoke flames of hatred…when we demonize and exaggerate, it can lead to things like this.”
“I wasn’t a good friend of Charlie’s,” said Jenkins, who shared he had met Kirk a couple of times, had some mutual friends with him, and had been talking with Hallowell about doing a panel discussion at one of Kirk’s events.
Jenkins said that he wasn’t shocked when he first heard the news that Kirk had been shot, “and the fact that I wasn’t shocked was disturbing to me.”
However, Jenkins was shocked when he heard a short while later that Kirk had died, partly because Kirk was only 31 years old and partly because Kirk “was killed for his beliefs.” …
…Jenkins pointed out that through his work on “The Chosen,” he is surrounded by people who have diverse beliefs. Some of the cast and crew are Christians, and some are not. Some have become Christians through working on “The Chosen,” but some have not.
“I’m always in this world of discussion and debate and surrounded by people who certainly wouldn’t be fans of Charlie Kirk‘s,” Jenkins said.

A good solid chunk of Christians don’t even know what Charlie was really about, but only know of his message through distorted or out of context soundbites.
“...and casually throw them out on social media and stoke flames of hatred…when we demonize and exaggerate, it can lead to things like this.””
The man is a corrupt liar.
I have a list of fourteen reasons I don’t watch The Chosen.
The Chosen never appealed to me because I don’t trust Hollywood to make a fictional life of Jesus. I remain uninterested. This guy’s a squishy liberal “Christian”, yes? No?
Give Dallas A Break..
.
Anyone Like;
“Jesus Christ SUPERSTAR” ?
I turned on The Chosen once for about 20 seconds, and Mary was there talking about changing Jesus’ diapers and so I turned it off and said, “nope.”
If he doesn’t know where the hate is emanating from he’s just irremediably stupid.
I found this link: https://www.worldslastchance.com/winds-of-doctrine/14-reasons-why-i-wont-watch-the-chosen.html
Out of curiosity, why did that turn you off? Jesus is human after all.
I’ve watched the series and like a lot of it, but Dallas now sounding like he’s blaming Charlie for his own death because of his speech. Sorry, he just lost me-yes, another squishy Christian.
The leftist cabal is now in the phase of trying to scare us into silence.
I’d wager this guy is nothing but a sell-out. Controlled. Here’s the evidence:
“But there are enough crazy people out there, enough damaged people out there who could take our words,” Jenkins said, “if we say them enough, and say them publicly enough, and casually throw them out on social media and stoke flames of hatred…when we demonize and exaggerate, it can lead to things like this.”
Jenkins is trying to scare Christians into silence.
I turned it off because if something isn’t in the Bible, then I don’t understand why they would attach their faces to it. You can just make Jesus say anything you wanted to. I don’t even like when they make Abraham Lincoln say something out of context. But with God, it’s different. Every letter has to be in place. I don’t care if the creator of the show has good intentions. That’s something you shouldn’t manipulate.
Thank you.
First, my wife and I love "The Chosen".
I'm curious. Doesn't Dallas realize that Jesus was NAILED to the CROSS because of the Message of salvation he was delivering to ALL of us!?
I am waiting for the list of right sided/conservatives/religious persons who, in the last fifty years have committed crimes anywhere similar to what we have seen coming from the left-sided/liberals/atheists.
I’m waiting, toes tapping . . .
Twelve of His apostles were also martyred.
Jesus was pretty ruthless to demons. That’s who we are up against.
Was Abraham Lincoln really a vampire hunter? I am starting to have my doubts.
The one I emailed you is easier to read. J
He was!! I seen it on the televisions!!
Bingo. The Jesus of the Chosen is Jenkin's vision of Jesus. For people who watch the Chosen week after week, this is Jesus.
