The Left Behind series of end times novels is one of the most successful literary franchises in modern Christian publishing…it was so successful that it became a film franchise as well. And who better to play the young journalist in the series, Buck Williams, than Kirk Cameron?
…You are probably familiar with the basics of the story: The ‘rapture’, a sudden disappearance of Christians around the globe, sets in motion a series of physical, social, geopolitical, and spiritual disasters. A political-religious leader, ‘the anti-Christ’, becomes the leader of a world government and the head of a syncretistic world religion… Nuclear war in the Holy Land… Theology ripped from the headlines… The good guys lose, the bad guys win… Then history ends with the Second Coming.
I noticed that Kirk Cameron, who described himself as ‘the Left Behind guy’, seemed to be sending out signals of cultural optimism…So in a recent interview I asked him if he had left behind Left Behind.
His answer: “I don’t see anything in the Scriptures saying that defeat was inevitable.”
Wow. That’s big. In my spiritual experience, when you join up, you get your Four Spiritual Laws, your ‘Sinners Prayer’ and then your prophecy secret decoder ring. And in no version of that prophecy story is defeat for the Church anything but inevitable: Anti-Christ, 666, computer chips in the hand (or the forehead for amputees), global government, mushroom clouds over Israel, the end…
In contrast, Cameron maintains that it is the job of the Church, “…to push back darkness and stop corruption and disciple nations with the power that raised Him from the dead in a kingdom which wins; it doesn’t lose. Greater is He who is within us than he that is in the world.”
In other words…this ship is going forward, not down.

Met Kirk once. Solid dude.
Well, duh. After all the bad stuff, and the devil is locked up for a thousand years while Jesus reigns on earth with, I’m assuming, those who became Christians during the great tribulation, then when the thousand years is up, Satan will be released and defeated forever, then this earth will pass away, and there will be a new Heaven and a new earth, where all Christians will live with the LORD forever. In a nutshell. I don’t call that a defeat.
I tried reading one of the Left Behind books, many years ago.
The writing was sort of scattered and loose. I didn’t finish it.
The book seemed like more of a Second Draft, than a finished and editted novel, but apparently, millions were happy with that book as is, and others from the series. Maybe the story is better told via film, vs print.
As discouraging as things can be at times, we won. Everything is just the type of mop-out that would take place across the landscape of individual battles, but the war is won.
I'm not going to take sides in the eschatological debates. I make a practice never to pontificate on any topic that already has one of those 'Four Views' books. But I am a strong advocate of opening up that conversation so that Christians can choose wisely among alternative views rather than just accepting the one which happens to have been held by televangelists with the biggest megaphones. That seems to be what Cameron is asking for: consider an alternative view and don't let eschatology paralyze you.
A very mature Christian attitude on the Last Things. None of this unbiblical made up oogey-boogey scary Rapture stuff to try to scare the heaven into the gullible. When God's plan here on earth has been completed, the Lord will return ONCE (in the Second Coming) and effect the consummation of all things. Christ has died; Christ has risen; Christ will come again. Amen.
Exactly.
Installed an auxiliary fuel system for a Gen. at 1st Baptist Dallas. Cameron was touring with Jeffress. No cameras. Toured the basement.
Nice guy.

1,260 days after the Abomination that Causes Desolation
That is when the real Mark of the Beast comes
People are being conditioned but it’s not here yet.
I think the marking starts immediately after the death and rez of the witnesses for I belive that is when the abomination occurs and the Son of Perdition throws down the gauntlet. The reading of the central chapters of Revelation 11 thru 14 has all of that coming together right after the death and Rez of the witnesses...but that is my opinion.
It’s description is found in the book of Revelation, and it is at the end of the age, after the believers in Jesus are raptured, (or taken up to Heaven), and the world system goes into overdrive and an evil world government takes over. There will be famine, pestilence and cruelty such as has never been seen throughout history. But even with this, people who were left behind after the rapture will still have an opportunity to become Christians. The tribulation lasts 7 years, with the first 3½ years being ruled by a seemingly good leader, but his true evil will be revealed after the first 3½ years, and the evil mentioned above will come in the last 3½ years.
Not Catholics, nor Orthodox, nor mainline Protestants. Not even all Evangelicals.
Ever try to read any of Dan Brown's "writing?"
Maybe third-grade level. Maybe.
I’m sure he’s a super nice guy. Woman I know has two special needs kids (one died in December 2024)
Kirk actually went to their house 🏠 to hang out and meet them oh so many years ago. She had pictures of the event.
That being said in 2021 Kirk came to speak locally. I was shaking my head almost the entire time. Didn’t expect that.
Bottom line, America is going to be around for another 1,000 years and Democrats and Republicans are going to unite for the good of the country by following some statue that somebody showed him of a woman holding a Bible. Unbelievable.
I was there for the whole thing and I was not more than 150 feet from the stage.
You can actually find a video on YouTube where Kirk is showing a model of the statue that he had built by the guys who did “The Lord of the Rings” - he had it on a table as I recall.
I don’t know who convinced him about that.
But I’m sure he’s a decent fellow.
I have always thought that the Mark of the Beast happens immediately after their deaths but could be after their ascent into Heaven.
It will be LIVE on CNN.
Quite the a**hole, Jerry Bowyer is.
Just my opinion.
