Norman Rockwell has a painting called "The Chain of Gossip". It shows the evolution of a story as it is passed from one person to another. The story ends up being told to the first story-teller, and is probably distorted beyond recognition. A similar effect happens with the Party Game called "Telephone". The number of people in the chain, combined with the length of time involved, can change the entire meaning of a story. This is one of the primary arguments from skeptics who don't understand the Inspiration of Scripture.

The Three Letters from The Apostle John are clearly addressed to individual people, and yet contain Spiritual Truth for all of us. Here they are, included in the Canon of Scripture, without dispute from any denomination that I know of. Those of us who believe that Scripture was Inspired by The Holy Spirit can discern the common thread that runs through the entire Book, even though it was written by at least fifty authors over a period of over a thousand years. Some Scripture is in the Form of Narrative, others, Poetry, Prophecy, Songs, Prayers, and Personal Letters

I can read from eight different sections of Scripture every day, and I don't lose the "Thread". The agreement between the Authors through Centuries are incredible, even though they span Centuries and many Personalities. Books are written by Shepherds, Kings, Prophets, Priests, Visionaries, Scribes, Cupbearers, Slaves, Apostles and Evangelists.

The personalities come through; each Book has its own "flavor". And, yet, there is a consistency that embraces the entire collection. That "consistency" is the Inspiration of The Holy Spirit, Who isn't bound by Time or Space (Or Personalities!).
