Question:
If Jesus ascended to heaven 40 after being risen from the dead, where was he all this time
Answer:
Jesus spent his post-Resurrection period on earth ministering to his apostles and other disciples. This can be seen in various biblical accounts, including John 20—21, Luke 24, Matthew 28, Mark 16, and Acts 1.
The 40-day formation period between the Resurrection and Ascension inspired the Church to use this period for new Catholics, who typically come into the Church at Easter, to deepen their formation. It’s called Mystagogy, which typically extends the RCIA period until Pentecost.
Jesus reigns with the Father in heaven and yet, because of his omnipotence, is able to remain with us (Matt. 28:20), most profoundly in the Sacrifice of the Mass, which we offer prayerfully in remembrance of him (Luke 22:19-20).
24 One of the twelve disciples, Thomas (called the Twin), was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
Thomas said to them, “Unless I see the scars of the nails in his hands and put my finger on those scars and my hand in his side, I will not believe.”
26 A week later the disciples were together again indoors, and Thomas was with them. The doors were locked, but Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and look at my hands; then reach out your hand and put it in my side. Stop your doubting, and believe!”
28 Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”
29 Jesus said to him, “Do you believe because you see me? How happy are those who believe without seeing me!”
(John Ch. 20, GNT)
One of the biggest omissions in the New Testament in my opinion.. what did Jesus say to the crowd of 500 after his resurrection?
I mean.. the guy came back from the dead to say something... and nobody bothered to write it down?!!?
There were around 26 writers of the day - plus you had Roman officials and soldiers and none of them wrote about any of it? Or any activities and gatherings when Yeshua spoke or did things? You would figure someone outside of the Biblical narrative would have written something about all that time during Yeshua’s ministry.
I have always thought it would make more sense if the sermon on the Mount occurred after the resurrection.
No kidding...
They also missed the part where Cesar was met by a demon-possessed man. The demons, recognizing His authority, begged Him not to send them away. Cesar eventually gave them permission to enter a nearby herd of pigs, which then rushed down a steep bank into the sea and drowned.
The Irony. Oh, the Irony.
It is in Church Holy Tradition
Only about 5% could read and about 2% could write in first century Rome.
Off topic but NBC news is reporting that Pope Francis has died. I don’t see it anywhere else. Is this rue?
rue = true
“NBC news is reporting that Pope Francis has died. I don’t see it anywhere else.”
We had to stop watching Newsmax this morning because that’s almost the only thing they covered.
He’s Dead Jim.
I have wondered how the Lord Jesus acquired some garments to wear, since the shroud is supposed to have covered a naked body. For when Mary Magdalene first saw him, she mistook him for the cemetery gardener.
But with the power to create I suppose he could have solved that easy enough.
Contemporary historian/writers who lived during the time, or within a century after the time that Yeshua was around.
Apollonius Persius
Petronius
Arrian Phaedrus
The list goes on for 27 more writers of the time.
So much for your 5% reading ability and 2% writers.
Rome was a very educated society especially with the Grecian influence.
Thing is, what were pigs doing in Israel? The most unclean animal known.
True - to leave a lasting remembrance of the occasion.

First instance of Deviled Ham!
“A fool can ask more questions than a wise man can answer.”
“A fool can ask more questions than a wise man can answer.”
Very adult response. Thank you.
