Our Father in Heaven,
How Hallowed,
Magnificent,
and Sanctified
is Your Most Holy Name!
How Blessed and How True is Your Word,
and How Mighty!
How Glorious,
to Span the Millennia,
To be Unfettered by Time and Space,
To Know The End from the Beginning
and the Beginning from The End!

In the amusing Science Fiction Movie Short Circuit (1986), a Military Robot gains sentience due to lightening causing an electrical surge. This is a very old plot device, going back to 1818 (Mary Shelly's Frankenstein.)

Perhaps unconsciously, the stories both reflect the notion that, somehow, lightning is a conduit for life. We know this to be the opposite, as just last year there were 11 fatalities caused by lightning, nearly half of them in Florida. (NOAA Website) In Florida, we used to call our state "The Lightning Capital of the World", and, I guess we were right.

Both the Robot in "Short Circuit" and Frankenstein's Monster had a thirst for knowledge. The Robot craved "Input", and begged its rescuer for ever increasing amounts of it. The Monster gained knowledge the only way he could, by reading every book he could get his hands on.

The following is a conversation I once had with a child:

"Miss Mary-Lou, who would you rather teach? Kids or Grown-ups?"

"Kids, definitely!"

"Why?"

"Because Grown-ups already think they KNOW everything!"

We both had a good laugh over that.

Jesus said that unless we become like "little children" we will not see the Kingdom of Heaven. We need to be open to what The Holy Spirit wants to teach us. There's always something to learn, as His Mercies are New every Morning.
