Free viewing of the short documentary today. I just watched it. It brought me to tears.
"...What touched them most was the the story of the 21 Egyptian Christians that were kidnapped by ISIS terrorists in 2015 and beheaded on a beach in Libya because they steadfastly refused to renounce their love for — and faith in — Jesus Christ as the crucified and resurrected Savior of the world. ...

...Mark Rodgers, a former chief of staff for a U.S. Senator turned producer of various faith-based Hollywood films and multimedia projects — including Martin Scorcese’s masterpiece, Silence — began wondering how he could create a film that would both honor the memory of these brave souls and their families and inspire Christians around the world to live for Christ no matter what the cost.
A typical documentary did not seem appropriate given the story’s gruesome nature.
A full length motion picture seemed cost prohibitive, would take years to complete, and might never see the light of day.
But after much prayer, the Lord gave him an intriguing idea.
What if he produced a short animated film using the artistry of Coptic Christian iconography to tell the story in a creative, compelling, and innovative fashion?
Working with his colleague, Mandi Hart, president of MORE Productions, they began developing a script, raising funds, and recruiting a director to head up the project.
SHORTLISTED FOR AN ACADEMY AWARD
The result: The 21, a powerful, emotional, and brilliant 13-minute film that is so good it wound up on the shortlist for an Academy Award nomination. ...
I remember these people.
They are in Heaven forever.................
Amen!
But he who endures to the end shall be saved. —Matthew 24:13
..... AND what a glorious life in Heaven for the victims!
Well worth the 13 minutes viewing time.
Revelation 20:4
The Saints Reign with Christ 1,000 Years
And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
I’ve read that one of the victims was actually not a Christian and could have saved his life by telling their captors so. But when he saw the others refusing to renounce their Christianity, when ISIS came to them and asked him what he religion was, he said, “Their God is my God.”
The 21 will reign over their murderers.
I wonder where ISIS got all the money for those Hollywood movie cameras and booms.
That must have been the black guy. I would love to know more of his story.
The murderers saw visions during the ordeal. I wonder if any repented afterward.
USAID....................
My thought as well. What a screwed up country we have, a screwed up world. Only God can save us at this point, if we’re willing to humble ourselves and turn back to Him.
That’s in the movie.
So, it’s on the short list for a nomination? So it hasn’t actually been nominated, then? If it is/ does/ get nominated I would be shocked if it actually won, with today’s film industry being what it is….
We can make a reasonable guess.
Thank you.
Words:
Martyr = died without renouncing the faith.
Confessor = tortured (often up to the point of death) without renouncing the faith.
👌🙏 my pleasure
