Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
We Praise Your Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship,
For You Alone Are The One True God.
Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent,
Teach us To Be Open to Opportunities,

It was September 11th, 2024 and I was teaching a guitar lesson to an eight-year old boy. As I wrote the date at the top of the page, the boy let out a little sigh.

"It's 9/11" he sighed.

"You know about 9/11? That was way before you were born. Did they teach you about it at school?"

"No, my Mom told me about it. She was THERE when it happened."

He went on to tell me that, long before his Mom and Dad met, she lived in New York City, and watched the entire 9/11/01 Tragedy unfold from a window of the skyscraper where she worked. While most of America watched it on TV, she was an EYEWITNESS. I shared with my student the story of Jeff, my Agent, who was in the Marriot World Trade Center on that horrible day. You probably saw Jeff on your TV, as he was one of the thousands of dust-covered New Yorkers fleeing when the Towers fell.

Both Jennifer (my student's Mom) and Jeff were EYEWITNESSES to a cataclysmic event. Neither of them could keep the story to themselves. Jeff told me his story many times, and his daily speech was peppered with references to 9/11/01. Jennifer had shared it with her son, even before the schools deemed it appropriate to teach as part of American History. Except for a ceremony once a year, American seems to have forgotten, but NOT the Eyewitnesses. They will never forget, and are keeping the memory alive.

Peter and John were both Eyewitnesses to the Resurrected Christ. They couldn't keep quiet about it, even though ordered to do so. For those who had not been in Jerusalem on that day, The Holy Spirit bears Witness to our own spirit within, providing a Witness that is more Powerful than the most advanced High-Definition TV screen.

It's just like being there, and I just can't keep from sharing.
