Caleb J. Lines, Senior Minister of University Christian Church, whose church is part of the United Church of Christ (UCC) denomination, might hate Jesus more than anyone we know.
Months after preaching a sermon where he claimed Jesus was xenophobic and misogynistic and needed to be corrected and called out by the Canaanite woman, he the preached a Christmas/Advent sermon where he argued that Mary, Jesus’ mother, was pro-choice, using the story of her saying ‘yes’ to the angel Gabriel as an example of her strong stance on reproductive rights and the freedom to have said ‘no.’
Not one to let the celebration of the birth of Christ pass without getting even more shots in, Lines preached a sermon insisting that Mary was NOT a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus, saying, “We know biologically that that is an impossibility, of course in the 21st century.”
He followed it up by arguing that there were lots of stories about pagan gods having fantastical births, and this was just one more of many.

A little misunderstanding about the meaning of the word, “miracle”?
I’d say a BIG misunderstanding!
It is also a brand of Japanese coffee.

The coffee, unlike the church, will not send you to hell.
This one has me so upset I looked up this fool.
Everyone feel free to contact him and tell him what a “miracle” is.

Honestly he and his church looks extra fruity for that extra long haul.
Just place your faith in Science, I suppose. See how far that takes you.
Talk about limiting the power of God to do anything He wishes in the way He wishes to do it. It sounds like the Senior Minister is worshipping the creature instead of the Creator.
That pastor is a heretic.
basically saying God isn’t really able to do what He wants with His own Creation? minister of what? this guy is NOT a Believer...just another opportunist.
If it wasn't beyond our comprehension, it wouldn't be a miracle. Duh.
God promised and foretold. He delivered on His promise.
Pay no mind. The UCC hasn’t been a Christian church since its founding in the 1950s. I grew up in a Congregational church, one of the UCCs precursors, and then the UCC for awhile. As we used to say, their brand of christianity was like a gallon of lemonade made with one lemon. Soon enough, they left out the lemon.
Impossible? So is the universe creating itself.
Headline should read:
"Minister" renounces core tenet of Christian faith
Because that's exactly what he did. No longer qualified to be a minister either.
Matthew 1:25 - "But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a Son. And he gave Him the name Jesus."
Then they had many children.
“A little misunderstanding about the meaning of the word, “miracle”?
You might also add the misunderstanding of the word Christian as in Christian Church.

So, is he saying Jesus was fake like the moon landing?
Is he even a minister?
He sounds fake.
WHY do we have to GOOGLE to find out where on earth this supposed church is?
Yep, he is saying that God isn’t powerful enough to violate the natural order of things- won’t that “minister” be surprised when he learns that God created everything from nothing, vio.at8ng every onow principle of science in the process!
Oh, and what about the resurrection of not just Jesus, but Lazarus, and several others who had died? After their bodies had begun Decaying?
I sure would hate being in a “church” with that “minister’s” biblical ignorance and unbelief
Maybe this guy is not a biologist (or a Supreme Court justice either).
G_d promised that Messiah would come of the house of David. This is why Matthew 1 lists that line to Joseph. But by the thesis of immaculate conception, Joseph was not the biological father of Yeshua (Jesus).
Yet all progenitorship in the Torah (as represented in those endless genealogies) was of male descent. Some think that the genealogy in Luke 3 refers to Mary, but that is not explicit. I don't yet know what to make of that disparity.
