The First Baptist Church in America in Providence, RI, is America’s oldest Baptist church. Established in 1638 by Puritan Minister Roger Williams, it has since shed its long history of faithful teaching and tradition and is now being led by Pastrix Dr. Jamie Washam, where they regularly share progressive LGBTQ Propaganda and put out church signs about how Jesus has two dads and God the Father’s imagined personal pronouns.
This year, they helped host NecronomiCon, a three-day event named after horror writer H. P. Lovecraft’s famed magical grimoire, also known as the Book of the Dead. NecronomiCon is a “biennial multi-faceted exploration of the weird fiction literary genre, which combines elements of horror, science fiction, fantasy, and magical realism” and is attended by around 1500 people.
Lovecraft is also known for inventing the monster Cthulhu, “an ancient octopus-headed god-like alien that has lived in the ocean since before the dawn of humankind,” who made an appearance of sorts at the event.
As part of the festivities, the church hosted the opening ceremony of this year’s Necronomicon, where Gigi Mitchell-Velasco (aka Bride of Cthulhu) played some tunes for the attendees while this ancient horror God mingled about the sanctuary, just like we see in the New Testament.
I'm not Baptist anymore but come on you all I"M OFFENDED by this.
Do you all hear me now we have a problem!!!
More proof we are living in Romans 1 times.
One of his major themes was Cosmic Horror, or what he called Cosmicism. Here is how Wikipedia describes that:
The philosophy of cosmicism is explained as the idea that "there is no recognizable divine presence, such as a god, in the universe, and that humans are particularly insignificant in the larger scheme of intergalactic existence."
So, what we have here is a Christian Church having a fun time with the idea what there is no God and that people are insignificant.
They should be ashamed.
I don’t think my babtist church would go for that.
Some times I wonder, if the founding fathers could peer into the future and see how their vision had been corrupted, would they have ever even bothered? When Jesus Christ judges the world, He will do so rightly.
My favorite Lovecraft story: At The Mountains Of Madness. Not directly a Cthulhu tale, but in my opinion, Lovecraft’s best work.
HP Lovecraft was from, and wrote many stories set in Providence. He is an important American literary figure, and probably the most famous person from Providence.
The more and more I read about this kind of crap, the more I appreciate my simple, old-fashion, country church where Jesus Christ is still Lord of all and worshiped as such.
This is no longer a Christian church. It’s an apostate.

I have "A Very Scary Solstice" and "An Even Scarier Solstice". Some are great, some are so-so and some should be returned to the Deep Ones.
"Go Summon Up the Dead Ones" is great.
I don’t think there is one Christian denomination that hasn’t been twisted over time by various philosophies, heretical ideas and social movements.
But some denominations have been twisted far worse than others. Some are not Christian anymore and I can say that with certainly because their teachings fundamentally diverge from the Bible in addition to breaking with tradition.
Not sure what to call them. The members of these social gatherings consider themselves Christian. It’s a label they want and they surround themselves with Christian symbols, but they simply do not line up with the Bible and what they profes Christ teaches us, and that makes them not Christian (followers of Christ).
Nothing wrong with Cthulhu X-mas songs just not in church. I’ll take “silent night” and other songs about Jesus. In the car on long trips? Yea I’m singing this...

I found Lovecraft writings back in 1961 and have enjoyed them ever since. But I don’t take them seriously as some people do.
But then some have also taken to the Star Wars nonsense.
My favorite Lovecraft story was THE RATS IN THE WALLS, THE COLOUR OUT OF SPACE and THE DUNWITCH HORROR. (Not the horrid 1970s movie)

And it does not surprise me if a colonial era New England church that has managed to survive to the present day has gone liberal.
My favorite Lovecraft story: At The Mountains Of Madness. Not directly a Cthulhu tale, but in my opinion, Lovecraft’s best work.
"At the Mountains of Madness" and "Shadow out of Time" were both published in '30s era Astounding Stories, a couple years before John W. Campbell became editor and forced radical improvements to the storytelling. They're pure Thirties era pulp science fiction.
One wonders what Lovecraft would have produced if he had lived long enough to write for Campbell's Unknown Worlds.
