Dear Father In Heaven,

Yesterday, I was driving to a gig in a restaurant that is on Rt. 53, which is the alternate route to Cape Cod. We expected a lot of Memorial Day Traffic, but it seemed most of the cars took the Interstate Highway (Either Rte. 3 or 495) instead. Memorial Day is the unofficial Opening Day of Summer Vacation Time on the Cape. Anytime prior to Memorial Day and after Labor Day is considered the "Off-Season". In my opinion, the Off-Season is the BEST time to visit Cape Cod.

There wasn't a lot of Vehicular Traffic on Rt. 53, but there was a lot of FOOT Traffic. Large groups of people were walking along the shoulder of the busy highway, some wearing military gear, and others wearing backpacks. I figured maybe they were doing a 10Km Walk in honor of Memorial Day, or something similar.

As I pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant to unload the sound equipment, I asked one of the Walkers what was going on.

"We are walking from Boston to the Bourne National Cemetery. It's 65 Miles."

I did a quick calculation in my head. They were about halfway there.

Bourne is where my Dad and Mom are buried. Dad was a US Navy Veteran of WW2 and Korea. You can't get near the place in a car on Memorial Day, as the Traffic extends right back over the Bourne Bridge over the Cape Cod Canal and all the way up on Route 495. (My brother got caught in that once so I know.) When I do go to the Cape, usually in the Off-Season, I always pay a visit to the Bourne National Cemetery. It's a Beautiful Place.

Today is the Day America Remembers those who gave their lives in service to Our Country. Veteran's Day, in November, honors the Living who served. Two different holidays, with two different meanings, but with one theme: to honor those who serve.

In Today's Scripture Passage, which we have seen before in this series, Jesus is called "The Prince of the Kings of the Earth". That is an enormous Title. All the rulers, kings, presidents, prime ministers, tsars, warlords, shahs, caliphs, potentates, and judges are subject to HIM.

As we honor those who gave their lives in service to our country, we should never forget that.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
