Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, and the people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance. (Psalm 33:12)
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; they shall prosper that love thee. (Psalm 122:6)
Holy Lord,
Thank You for the blessed privilege of praying with fellow believers across this nation today. How amazing it is to be given the opportunity to commune with You at any time and in any place as we acknowledge You as our Creator God Who loves us. You are the God Who redeemed us, Who called us by name. We belong to You and ask that the desire of our hearts be to please You and You alone. We desire to honor You by responding to the commands in Your Word. Therefore, especially in these times of great need, we lift up our prayers on behalf of Your people, Israel and for America as well.
Father, You are the God of Israel, and they are Your people.. (Isa 45:3)
You named them, though they did not know You. (Isa 45:4)
Lord, cleanse them from their iniquities, and pardon all of their sins. (Jer 33:8)
Save them with an everlasting salvation. (Isa 45:17)
Raise them up in righteousness, and direct all their ways. (Isa 45:13)
Redeem Israel out of all of their troubles. (Ps 25:22)
Be a shelter for Your people, (Joel 3:16)
and the strength of the children of Israel. (Joel 3:16)
Bring health and healing to them and to their land, (Jer 33:9)
Revealing to them Your abundance of peace and truth. (Jer 33:6.)
Let the eyes of their understanding be enlightened. (Eph 1:18)
Give them the spirit of wisdom and revelation (Eph 1:17)
in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Eph 1:17)
Let Israel be to You a name of praise, (Jer 33:9)
and an honor before all the nations of the earth. (Jer 33:9)
Proclaiming all the good You do for them, (Jer 33:9)
and causing fear and trembling among the nations, (Jer 33:9)
because of all the goodness and prosperity You provide for it. (Jer 33:9)
Restore everything that has been removed from them. (Joel 2:25)
Send them grain and new wine and oil to satisfy them. (Joel 2:19)
Make their enemies to be at peace with them (Prov 16:7)
and no longer let them be a reproach among the nations. (Joel 2:19)
Seek out Your sheep and deliver them (Eze 34:12)
from the peoples and countries where they were scattered, (Eze 34:13)
and bring them to their own land. (Eze 34:13)
I pray for the peace of Jerusalem, (Ps 122:6)
may they prosper that love you. (Ps 122:6)
Lord, cause their enemies to cease from the land. (Eze 34:25)
Make them and the places all around Jerusalem a blessing, (Eze 34:26)
and cause showers of blessings to come down in their season. (Eze 34:26)
Let Your people dwell safely in their land, (Eze 34:27)
delivered from trouble from all the kingdoms of the earth. (Jer 34:17)
Lord, just as we remember the Israeli soldiers, so also we remember our own mighty men and women who are standing in defense of our nation. Surely You are with them and Your hand does not leave them. Shield them from all evil and from the plots and schemes of the wicked one. Guide them into Your presence each and every day so that they may safely trust in You. Hide them in the secret place where no evil shall befall them. Father, please give them the boldness and the courage they need for each moment, and help them to have the hope and blessed assurance that can be found only in You.
Father, we pray for peace in our universities. May all eyes be open to the truth, and may hatred, prejudice, and violence end. We ask for courage for the faculties and administration of each college where unrest and hatred toward the Jewish people are being demonstrated. May Your people who know the truth of Your Word be willing to share the message of the Cross with those who do not know You.
Lord, You are our dwelling place for all generations. Your mercies are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. We love you and bless Your Name; for You are good and Your truth endures unto all generations. Great and mighty is the Lord, our God. We bow before You in humble reverence and thanksgiving, in the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
On the first Thursday of May, people all across the country will participate in the National Day of Prayer. The National Day of Prayer was signed into law in 1952 by President Harry S. Truman but has been in practice since 1775 when the Continental Congress asked the colonies to pray for wisdom in forming a nation. The law was amended by President Reagan, permanently setting the day as the first Thursday of May and each year, the president signs a proclamation encouraging all Americans to pray. Last year, all 50 state governors and several governors of U.S. territories signed similar proclamations. Please join us in prayer today.
