Perhaps the biggest challenge against Christians from skeptics, Jews, Muslims, and others is that the prophecies of Jesus and the writers of the New Testament failed. So, if Jesus and his followers were false prophets, Christianity falls. Consider these quotes:
“Say what you like, we shall be told, the apocalyptic beliefs of the first Christians have been proved to be false. It is clear from the New Testament that they all expected the Second Coming in their own lifetime. And, worse still, they had a reason, and one which you will find very embarrassing. Their Master had told them so. He shared, and indeed created, their delusion. He said in so many words, ‘this generation shall not pass till all these things are done.’ And He was wrong. He clearly knew no more about the end of the world than anyone else. It is certainly the most embarrassing verse in the Bible [ref. Matthew 10:23; 16:27-28; 24:34; etc.]” (C. S. Lewis, Christian apologist)
“He [Jesus] certainly thought that his second coming would occur in clouds of glory before the death of all the people who were living at that time. There are a great many texts that prove that. And there are a lot of places where it is quite clear that He believed that his second coming would happen during the lifetime of many then living.” (Bertrand Russell, philosopher)
“No amount of Christian theological acrobatics will ever solve the problems engendered by the historical reality that a promised imminent fulfillment made two thousand years ago did not occur as expected by the New Testament. Simply stated, Jesus is never coming back, not then, not now, not ever.” (Jews for Judaism)
“Messianic apocalyptic eschatology . . . has a 100% failure rate. . . . The prophecies of Jesus and his followers all came to nothing.” (Professor of Religious Studies, University of North Carolina)
The authority of the Bible and reliability of Jesus are at stake. The preterist view is that at least some of the Second Coming passages in Scripture are about Jesus coming “in judgment” against apostate Old Covenant Israel in AD 70, similar to how YHWH came “in judgment” against various nations in the Old Testament. Only with the preterist view do Jesus and the New Testament writers emerge from the pages of Scripture as true prophets, answering the critics of Christianity.

Proper Eschatology is important.
So why do you insist on preaching error that the A/C already came and the Mark of The Beast was implemented back in 70 ADish by Rome and imposed upon Chinese and Mayans far beyond Rome’s territorial reach?
Either the Bible is true or it’s a fairy tale.
Make up your mind!
Anybody who has done their Prophecy homework knows you are a fraud.
Thank you for your heartfelt comment. Please excuse me, but it’s amazing the vitriol that comes from professing Christians. It’s easy to make glaring statements, but a lot harder to defend your views from God’s Word. It seems that you are about defending presuppositions, rather than relying on the Bible. But if you use the Bible as your source, I’m all ears. I provided numerous Bible passages as evidence; so far you have not.
I disagree that perhaps the biggest challenge against Christians from skeptics, Jews, Muslims, and others is that the prophecies of Jesus and the writers of the New Testament failed. They all have their own failing eschatologies. If they don't believe, it's because of sin, not false logic.
Matthew 28
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen
What you call “vitriol” is a strong rebuke of somebody who claims to know The Bible (that would be you), but practices horrible technique of “diving of The Word”.
I’ll criticize you all day long on a public forum since you claim to be the keeper of “truth”.
I use the Bible.
You can’t explain the implementation of the Mark in 70AD to ‘ALL’ the world (Rev 13:16)
You can’t explain how Mayans and Chinese, and Incas received this so-called “Mark” in 70AD (Rev 13:16).
You can’t explain how all in the world saw the Two Witnesses murdered at the same time on live TV in 70AD (Revelation 11:9)
You can’t explain how all in the world saw those Two Witnesses resurrect (get Raptured) to Heaven after 3 days (Rev 11:11-12). Surely Tacitus or Josephus would have recorded this right?
Nevermind the 28 Judgements of Revelation.
I’m sure the Romans recorded those as it killed everybody almost to a man back in those days eh? (Matt 24:22-24).
Your “evidence” is lacking and quite frankly as others have told you on your posts - you are in contempt of the Scriptures and fail at your “interpretation”.
Israel is a nation again (Ezekiel 37)
Russia, Iran, and Turkey are forming their alliance (Ezekiel 38)
And the technology of the Beast is here in Revelation 13.
Sometimes the teacher has to put the kid who insists he’s right in the corner and put the dunce cap on him.
So it goes with you.....
I got the concept from RC Sproul, who wrote a book “Last Days According to Jesus.” Sproul may have been the most important theologian of his day, having written so 80 or so books. I’d say his opinion as an apologist defending the faith is credible.
I’m happy letting FreeRepublic readers decide if the OP bears credibility.
Maybe Grumpa will try his hand at trashing the Shroud next. Or, he will explain how all the former cowardly disciples were willing to be martyred. Or, how many hundreds witnessed the risen Christ.

If he weren’t just following that Chantel Meek blog he spams, he could pursue some training and learn the scripture.
We know this for certain.
Jesus said in Matthew 23:14
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Not until then. The Jesus Film is now awailable in more than 2000 languages.

HAS THE GOSPEL BEEN PROCLAIMED TO THE WHOLE WORLD?
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)
There are several reasons why this passage has already been fulfilled:
1. At least 6 times the inspired apostle Paul proclaimed that this had been fulfilled by the time he was writing―Romans 1:8; 10:18; 16:25-26; Colossians 1:6, 23; 1 Thessalonians 1:8. See also Acts 1:8; 19:10 and 1 Timothy 3:16.
2. The word “world” in this passage (Matthew 24:14) is the Greek word “OIKOUMENE,” which is often translated the Roman world. It is not the whole globe, in which case the Greek word “kosmos” would have been used. See Luke 2:1; Acts 11:28; 17:6; 24:5.
3. Jesus restricted fulfillment of this prophecy to his generation (Matthew 24:34).
4. The context of the “END” was the end of the Old Covenant Age when the temple would be destroyed (Matthew 24:1-2).
Oh goodness.
Grumpa has no eschatology.
Very interesting
Do you hapoen to have a slide concerning the fallacy of the pre-tribulation rapture. Or perhaps one that explains how the whole pre-tribulation rapture dogmatic shift occurred and who is responsible for that rubbish?
Nailed it.
Charles, you just don’t give up do you?
He can’t read or let the Bible speak itself.
They always insert.
Always...
100% true.
These threads make a mockery of Christianity and make those who are curious want to avoid it.
Rightly Dividing The Word is critical.
Neither he, nor you have much.
How did Nero and his “false prophet” (who was that again in 70AD? Remind us?) breath life into His Image of the Beast (Rev 13:15)?
Truth.
And simply copies and pastes.
