I wrote then…
The contrast yet similarity with Judas and Peter is insightful for ALL of us. (Note…apparently Bisjop Fulton Sheen had the same observation, though he’s waaaay smarter than me).
Yes, Judas betrayed Jesus. That was bad.
In a different way, Peter betrayed Jesus.
Both Apostles were upset about their action.
Judas took that anxiety and responded by “atoning for his sin” by retuning the coins.
Peter wept bitterly.
Judas hanged himself.
Jesus Resurrected meets Peter again, and (we presume) is forgiven.
I suspect, Judas isn’t in Heaven…BUT, it is arguable that had Judas not killed himself, Jesus would have forgiven him.
The lesson for us, is that as long as you are breathing, you are never too far gone for Our Lord’s forgiveness IF YOU WANT IT AND YOU ARE SORRY.
No, no he didn’t.
He lives in a Brownstone in Brooklyn by the Park, right near Chuckie S.
He only visits He-ll on the weekends.
Jesus Christ Superstar tries to paint Judas on a sympathetic light. But he was a common thief.
Not sure Scripture supports the notion of anyone burning in hell right now.
On the cross Jesus asked God the father to forgive those who crucified him. Because they didn’t know what they were doing. Judas Iscariot knew what he was doing. The devil goaded him on. IMHO.
Excellent subject for debate.
I grew up in church, played the game for years - thinking that I was fine…
Then came the day where I completely surrendered my WHOLE life to Christ.
He changed me completely. There will NEVER be any going back.
I think Judas was still doing that first part of my life. -Just playing the game.
Isn’t suicide a sin from which you cannot repent, since you’re dead?
Was Judas doing what was designed for him to do? Did he has free will?
