Sadly too many will go off on a Wild Goose Chase on Bible Prophecy. I’ve seen too many examples in the past. Here are a few..

I have a copy of a prophecy from an anti Semitic publication from 1984 promising the destruction of Israel and the return of Christ by 1986.It didn’t happen and the writer had to make an apology.

Remember the promise of the 1980s that when Communism falls and the “Ten Toes” reunite? Communism fell and we are still waiting.
I have received several books warning us to prepare as the End Times were just a few years ahead. One I received in 1978, another in 1993. Still here.

Thessalonians 5:
The Day of the Lord

5 Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers,[a] you have no need to have anything written to you. 2 For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

Best thing you can do is live your life as if Christ would be here tomorrow, or sooner.

Yup, nobody knows the DAY or HOUR but Jesus Himself told us to be aware of the signs of the season.

So after this whole dissertation giving us indicators of his second coming, He then says in verse 36.... “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

He then continues on in verse 37-51 to give more signs of the general time.

Not knowing the specifics of the day and hour does NOT mean not being able to know any of it at all ever.

If that were the case, then why did Jesus answer the disciples questions with specifics of what to look for?

Any opinion of world affairs that does not dovetail with this prophecy is dismissed" -- Rapturists claim that this means the rapture must occur within forty years of the founding of Israel in 1948 -- FAIL. in 1988, Edgar Whisenat published and distributed his pamphlet 88 reasons why the rapture will be in 1988 -- He specified September as the month in which Christ would return -- bzzz. RAPTURE-FAIL again.
But the rapture didn't occur in 1988 so Whisenant wrote 89 reasons why the rapture will be in 1989
Then rapture-fails sorry rapturists claim that this 40 year should be counted from 1967 - RAPTURE-FAIL again as 2007 came and went.
Jerry Falwell in 1989 sent out a mass mailing In just a few days we will enter what will be the final decade!
On december 19, 1994, US News and world report stated that 1 in 5 Americans believed the world would end within a few years!

Net - net, this fake 19th century philosophy has been shown to be continuously failing and still rapturists follow it - adding on a few more years each time they fail
