You’re attempting to justify a wrong. The Nazis used your same “logic” by making the Jews and others wear identifying marks. It was wrong in the 1200s, the 1930s and now. That you’re trying to justify this is telling.

In the 1930s gathering up people and gassing them was wrong by the standards of the 1930s. Heck, massacring people en masse was wrong even in the 1200s which is why the Khwarezm envoys were appalled at the destruction of Beijing in 1211 and the Georgians were appalled at the leveling of Merv.
In the 1930s, the Nutzis actions were appalling even by the 1930s sensibilities.
In the 1200s people wore and were made to wear different clothes to signify their position in society - yeomen wore different clothes than nobility.
