In the prophecy of Hosea of the many reasons why God gives for the judgment then coming upon Israel he notes that central to it is a lack of knowledge. It’s not that the people are dumb, or ignorant, or even that they lack understanding. I’m sure folks were smart and intelligent. It was not as if a rash of dimwittery had befallen the tribes of Israel. The claim then made by the Lord’s prophet was that, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” It was a particular type of ignorance which was present among the nation.

They say they worship him because he created the universe, but when asked if they would still worship him if he were some mad scientist who created it all they just stare blankly. When they are asked what it is about God, the Father, that makes him worthy of our worship, devotion, and love, they draw a blank.
Many Christians are just going through the motions, mouthing the rituals. They have no interest in really getting to know God.
Along this line, I regularly tell people about the NIV Bible narrated by David Suchet (LINK TO BIBLE AT YOUTUBE). It's easy to listen to at the end of the day when your eyes are tired. I listen on my Kindle every night but it is just as easy on a phone.
When I tell people about this, I just get nods...but no interest. I ask them if they have read the Bible from beginning to end, and the answer is always no.
I tell them the Bible will change their daily lives in powerful ways. But they are not interested in changing their daily lives.
David Suchet---Poirot? Have you watched any of his long running detective series? If not, watch and see both superb acting and Suchet's Poirot character who is both superb detective and hilariously vain man at the same time.
His narration of the Bible is wonderful.
What a voice.
BTW, he is a devout Christian and believes that this narration is his calling.

God leads the People of Israel, and there needs to be straight on devotion.Period.
You can't have what you cannot see.
Their ignorance makes them blind.
I agree that the David Suchet reading of the Bible is the best.
But I had never linked him to Poirot. LOL
