Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Acts 21
Paul’s Arrival at Jerusalem
17 When we arrived at Jerusalem, the brothers and sisters received us warmly. 18 The next day Paul and the rest of us went to see James, and all the elders were present. 19 Paul greeted them and reported in detail what God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.
20 When they heard this, they praised God. Then they said to Paul: “You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews have believed, and all of them are zealous for the law. 21 They have been informed that you teach all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to turn away from Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or live according to our customs. 22 What shall we do? They will certainly hear that you have come, 23 so do what we tell you. There are four men with us who have made a vow. 24 Take these men, join in their purification rites and pay their expenses, so that they can have their heads shaved. Then everyone will know there is no truth in these reports about you, but that you yourself are living in obedience to the law. 25 As for the Gentile believers, we have written to them our decision that they should abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality.”
26 The next day Paul took the men and purified himself along with them. Then he went to the temple to give notice of the date when the days of purification would end and the offering would be made for each of them.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
We Praise Your Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship,
For You Alone Are The One True God.
Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent,
Teach us To Seek Your Face,
And Teach Us To Only Give Glory to You
Instead of looking to ourselves.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Once again, I am reminded of my journey to Israel in 1984. The Tour Group had gone home, and my hubby and I were still in Jerusalem for an additional week. After walking around the Old City, I got the bright idea that, since it was a beautiful day, why not WALK back to our hotel? Our Hotel was near the Central Bus Station, so if we got tired we could just grab a bus and be done with it. My husband consented, though he wasn't happy about it.
Soon we found ourselves wandering in a neighborhood that looked as though it had been transported from 17th Century Europe. Both the men and women were covered from head to toe and there were signs posted demanding that people wear modest attire. I WAS dressed "modestly", as we had been visiting churches and synagogues that day, but compared to the people in the neighborhood, I felt as though I looked like a Las Vegas Showgirl! YIKES! I felt SO uncomfortable.
Hubby approached an older man and asked in Yiddish where the bus stop was to get to the Central Bus Station. We were directed to the next corner, and the bus picked us up. Was I ever glad!
Paul found himself in a similar situation when he returned to Jerusalem. Not only did he consent to alter his appearance to comply with the Jewish Law, but he also paid for others to fill their religious obligations. But "Fake news" had preceded him to Jerusalem, and it would take a lot more than that to "redeem" him in the eyes of the city.
Although we have seen Paul's personality as a bit of a rebel against his former life as a Pharisee, and his insistence upon not imposing Jewish Customs upon Gentile Believers, we see a different, respectful, and conciliatory side here, as he subsidizes and joins in with Temple Worship when dealing with Jewish Believers in making a vow.
By The Way, it is from Paul that we get the expression, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do" though not in those exact words.

Psalm 54
To the leader: with stringed instruments. A Maskil of David, when the Ziphites went and told Saul, ‘David is in hiding among us.’
1 Save me, O God, by your name,
and vindicate me by your might.
2 Hear my prayer, O God;
give ear to the words of my mouth.
3 For the insolent have risen against me,
the ruthless seek my life;
they do not set God before them.
Selah
4 But surely, God is my helper;
the Lord is the upholder of* my life.
5 He will repay my enemies for their evil.
In your faithfulness, put an end to them.
6 With a freewill-offering I will sacrifice to you;
I will give thanks to your name, O Lord, for it is good.
7 For he has delivered me from every trouble,
and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies.

Praying for those calling for intifada across our universities and cities, and the leaders who look the other way and enable it, are held to account. In Jesus’ Name may the lost hear the Good News and receive Salvation.

The people with the modest dress neighborhood, were they Orthodox Jews? It sounds like you were describing a Muslim neighborhood where there are women modesty police.

It was an Orthodox Jewish Neighborhood. That’s why my hubby was able to communicate in Yiddish rather than Hebrew.
