Mario Murillo: Why Would Christians Vote for Abortion?
Charisma News ^ | December 1, 2023 | Mario Murillo

Many believers are still shocked and dismayed. Why did abortion score so many election victories? The answer is clear. Christians voted for abortion. These laws could not have passed without their vote.

Why would anyone who claims to follow Jesus vote to kill babies?

And make no mistake: That is exactly what they did. A fetus is a person—a person over whom God watched while He made them. Americans Know the Abortion Epidemic Is Evil

“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb” (Ps. 139:13-15, NLT).

Abortion is murder. It is not a right or a family decision. Abortionists love to bring up the cases of rape, incest or the life of the mother. But these account for less than 1% of unwanted pregnancies.

What is the reason for the other 99%? And why does a free and prosperous society need to kill so many of its own children? The answer is that Americans are addicted to a lifestyle.

Colonel Jessup defends himself as a necessary evil.

In their heart of hearts, Americans know the abortion epidemic is evil. But addiction makes it a necessary evil. We see “necessary evil” defined in the movie ” A Few Good Men.” Lieutenant Kaffee is cross-examining Colonel Jessup. Kaffee is trying to trick Jessup into admitting he ordered a “code red”—a violent extrajudicial punishment that killed a soldier named Santiago.

Colonel Jessup defends himself as a necessary evil.

“You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines,” he says. “You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know—that Santiago’s death, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives.

“You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want me on that wall—you need me on that wall.”

Abortion is saying this to carnal Christians: “The death of babies, while tragic, probably saved lives. You don’t want the truth about me. Deep down in places you don’t talk about in church, you need me—you want me.”

Paul Predicted This Kind of Believer

The love of the world got into Christians. “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world” (1 John 2:15-16, NKJV).

Paul predicted this kind of believer.

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables” (2 Tim. 4:3-4).

It is the American church’s dirty little secret. Pastors and preachers turned Christians away from the Bible. They created the moral deformity in believers.

— It began when pastors wanted new members more than disciples. They omitted controversial verses. Finally, they uncoupled Christians from the Bible. Now we have a generation that is so biblically illiterate it does not know how to distinguish good from evil.

— Spirit-filled preachers were just as bad. They didn’t replace the Bible—they added to it. Personal words from God became equal to Scripture. Prophetic messages replaced doctrine and saying, “God told me this” became more common than saying, “The Bible says.”

It has been said that if Paul were alive today the church would be getting a letter. But there is already a letter to the American preachers and Christians who not only support abortion but the entire woke agenda. They are today’s Laodicean church.

Clinging to the Word

“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked” (Rev. 3:15-17).

On the other hand, there is the remnant who are like the church of Philadelphia. “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name” (Rev. 3:8, emphasis added).

The faithful church is also issued a further promise for holding to the Bible: “Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth” (Rev. 3:10).

This brazen time of celebrity preachers, false prophets and morally confused Christians is helping to destroy America. God will not leave them unpunished.

But those who cling to the Word of God and persevere will not only thrive through the storm, but they will bring in a massive harvest of souls—and miracles—and can save our nation.

Choose this day which you want: punishment or protection. {eoa}

I have two progressive-liberal sisters who are Catholic and hard core pro-abortionists.

Go figure...

That may be, but I know no Christian supports abortion, and not one would vote in favor of it.

Along with immaturity and irresponsibility. They are worldly fake Christians, not true Bible believing Christians.

One can be immature and irresponsible in many ways. I explored several of them in my youth.

Of those many ways, only sexual immorality can lead to pregnancy.

I’ve met a lot. I’ve met “Christian” women who tell me that is between a woman a God if they have an abortion.

I have heard every excuse under the sun.

Remember I’ve been doing this for a long time.

BTW, if you were Catholic someone here would accuse you of resorting to the "No True Scotsman" fallacy. I know that from first-hand experience. I do NOT so accuse you, because I know what you mean and I don't play "gotcha games".

> A fetus is a person… <

Yes. A thug punches a pregnant woman in the belly. The pregnant woman loses her unborn child. The thug is prosecuted for murder. This has happened many times.

So how could you be wrong?

I recently began visiting a church. I'd asked Google to search for nearby churches. It said there was one that is 450 feet from my home. Sure enough, there it was.

So I visited it. It's a mostly Russian congregation (lots of immigrants from Eastern Europe in this area). They are a small congregation and their services must also be translated into English, but they're the most biblically sound group of worshipers I've found in five years of living here.

American churches have much to re-learn.

Abortion has been comdemned since the apostles and Church Fathers. Athenagoras of Athens was a philosopher and a convert to the faith. He wrote "A Plea for Christians" to argue tolerance for Christians. The date of authorship is around A.D. 177 based on the rule of co-Emperors Marcus Aurelius and Commodus.

Apology of Anathagoras of Athens

By Athenagoras the Athenian: Philosopher and Christian

To the Emperors Marcus Aurelius Antoninus and Lucius Aurelius Commodus, conquerors of Armenia and Sarmatia, and more than all, philosophers.

....Snip.....

Chapter 35. The Christians Condemn and Detest All Cruelty.

"What man of sound mind, therefore, will affirm, while such is our character, that we are murderers? For we cannot eat human flesh till we have killed some one. The former charge, therefore, being false, if any one should ask them in regard to the second, whether they have seen what they assert, not one of them would be so barefaced as to say that he had. And yet we have slaves, some more and some fewer, by whom we could not help being seen; but even of these, not one has been found to invent even such things against us. For when they know that we cannot endure even to see a man put to death, though justly; who of them can accuse us of murder or cannibalism? Who does not reckon among the things of greatest interest the contests of gladiators and wild beasts, especially those which are given by you? But we, deeming that to see a man put to death is much the same as killing him, have abjured such spectacles. How, then, when we do not even look on, lest we should contract guilt and pollution, can we put people to death? And when we say that those women who use drugs to bring on abortion commit murder, and will have to give an account to God for the abortion, on what principle should we commit murder? For it does not belong to the same person to regard the very fœtus in the womb as a created being, and therefore an object of God's care, and when it has passed into life, to kill it; and not to expose an infant, because those who expose them are chargeable with child-murder, and on the other hand, when it has been reared to destroy it. But we are in all things always alike and the same, submitting ourselves to reason, and not ruling over it." ... snip.

You may have met a lot of “Christian” women, but I promise you have never met a Christian woman that supports or votes in favor of abortion. It is impossible.

preach it, Pastor Marillo:

Paul thus warns believers who for themselves re-crucify Jesus and put Him to an open shame. to my mind, a christian voting for abortion is terribly close to putting Him to ‘open shame.’ i don’t see any daylight there, so don’t do it.

Heb 6:4

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit,

Heb 6:5

and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,

Heb 6:6

if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.

I got one for ya! I have an in-law Lutheran Pastor, inner city Minneapolis, who is a DEMONrat! Sometimes he wants to discuss politics with me, but nothing about abortion! I tell him that in my opinion, few aspects are more sacrosanct as the life of babies and children. The discussion about environment, butterflies, etc., are an INSULT to the most precious lives of our children!

Never condone abortion under any circumstances

Christians would not vote for abortion

Christians can vote for a candidate who is less aggressively pro abortion than the opposition as in many cases in New York, under direction of clergy

Because killing babies is cool.

It's child sacrifice without all the trouble of having to build a fire in a big bronze idol.
