Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Acts 14
In Iconium
14 At Iconium Paul and Barnabas went as usual into the Jewish synagogue. There they spoke so effectively that a great number of Jews and Greeks believed. 2 But the Jews who refused to believe stirred up the other Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers. 3 So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the message of his grace by enabling them to perform signs and wonders. 4 The people of the city were divided; some sided with the Jews, others with the apostles. 5 There was a plot afoot among both Gentiles and Jews, together with their leaders, to mistreat them and stone them. 6 But they found out about it and fled to the Lycaonian cities of Lystra and Derbe and to the surrounding country, 7 where they continued to preach the gospel.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven
Hallowed be Your Most Holy Name!
How We Long For Your Kingdom,
How We Wait For Your Will to be Done,
Here on earth, as it already is, in Heaven!
You Know Us Inside and Out,
And We Can Hide Nothing From You.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

I admit it...I am getting old. In fact, I am old enough to remember Martin Luther King's I Have A Dream speech which was delivered to a crowd of 250,000 people in Washington D.C. in 1963. I was eleven then, but I remember seeing the grainy black and white image on the TV of thousands of people on the Mall, and wondering how they all got there. Forty years later, I was a participant in Rolling Thunder nine consecutive years (and have the patches to prove it). There was no question as to how the 500,000 participants got there...WE RODE our motorcycles! However, marches and demonstrations that don't involve Harleys are handled by more conventional methods of transportation. That means that the companies that charter flights and buses make a bundle of money. It doesn't seem to matter to the Bus Companies whether it's the "Million-Man March" or The "March For Life", an Inauguration of a President, or a Protest March. There's money to be made by moving people to and from the airport, to their hotels, and to the Mall itself. It is this hidden logistic that keeps things moving.
Just this morning, I was greeted with this news item: "About 300 Jewish people headed to DC Israel rally left stranded by bus drivers staging ‘deliberate and malicious’ walkout."
The people who were stranded at the airport had paid for their tickets to attend a rally in support of Israel and to denounce antisemitism. I really hope they sue the pants off the bus company, and maybe even sue the striking drivers for "Conspiracy to Deprive People of their Civil Right to Assemble".
I may be wrong, but I don't remember this ever happening before in Washington DC, even for the most unpopular of causes. Please pray that the monstrous evil of antisemitism and hate be banished from our country.
I'm really appalled by some of the stuff that is coming from renowned institutions like Harvard and Yale. But, really, I shouldn't be surprised at all. In fact, it has been going on a lot longer than we realize. Here is something I wrote many years ago about the leftward decline of our schools:
My best friend Sandy was two years older than I was, so when I was still a Junior in High School, she went away to Amherst for her first semester at U-Mass. This was in 1968, and although I was a bit of a hippie-flower-child-folk-singer, I was not "political". When Sandy came home for Spring Break, everything about her was different. She wore a button with Che Guevara's face on it, was contemptuous of her parents, (who were paying for her education), and was a different girl than the one who had left a mere six months earlier. She even TALKED differently. Gone was the Boston Accent and the lively girlish chatter, replaced by a haughty vocal drawl that sneered down at us little people and stank of academic snobbery. It was unsettling. Her mind had been poisoned in a few short months, and our friendship ended.
In days long past, the University was supposed to be the appropriate place for free exchange of ideas. It was the forum for higher learning, critical thinking, and the exploration of different aspects of "The Liberal Arts". Other institutions provided training in the various arts and sciences, but even they encouraged freedom of thought. The Ancient Greek idea of "The Forum", where new ideas would be expressed, was supposed to further one's knowledge and expand one's horizons.
Somewhere along the line, this ideal has eroded to the point where Institutions of higher learning have become "indoctrination centers", and I saw the results of this a half century ago!
Paul and Barnabas preached their Message in the acceptable forum of the community, and were sometimes even asked to share by the leaders of the Synagogue. Some believed, and some didn't. That was perfectly in line with the Parable of the Sower, where the Word falls upon all kinds of surfaces, sometimes bearing fruit and sometimes not. Paul and Barnabas had no reason to expect that EVERYBODY would repent and convert.
However, due to some people who were jealous of Paul's success, there was a plot to poison the minds of people and turn them against the Apostles. And, like the poisoning of minds that continue to this day, the results were violent.
There is some very real wickedness in our government, our entertainment industry, Academia, NEWS Media, and even the Business World. Deliver us from evil, Oh Lord!
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Psalm 127
A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon.
1 Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labour in vain.
Unless the Lord guards the city,
the guard keeps watch in vain.
2 It is in vain that you rise up early
and go late to rest,
eating the bread of anxious toil;
for he gives sleep to his beloved.*
3 Sons are indeed a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the sons of one’s youth.
5 Happy is the man who has
his quiver full of them.
He shall not be put to shame
when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
