Acts 13

1 Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. 2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3 So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Excellent is Your Name over all the Earth.

In my Morning Reading today I came across this in Isaiah:

For this is what the Lord says—
he who created the heavens,
he is God;
he who fashioned and made the earth,
he founded it;
he did not create it to be empty,
but formed it to be inhabited—
he says:
“I am the Lord,
and there is no other. (Isaiah 45:18 NIV)

Now, I have read Isaiah many times but I don't remember ever reading these words. So I checked all the Translations I have in the house and they all said the same thing. This flies in the face of the so-called "greens" who harbor the mistaken notion that, somehow, human beings are bad for the planet, and that the world population needs to be drasticly reduced. Some of the draconian methods that are used match up with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: War, Famine, Pestilence, and Murder (Death). It is interesting that "Death" rides a "pale" horse. The Greek word for "pale" is χλωρός (Strong's 5515). If you look it up, you will see that it also means "Green".

No Bible Translator would want to get caught writing about a Green Horse (Although there was one in the "Wizard of Oz" in the Emerald City scene) so nearly every translation of Revelation shows Death riding a "pale", "ashen" or "dappled" horse. But NOT Green. But, there are a lot of unnatural things in John's Vision, so why not a green horse?

A lot of people call themselves "Prophets" these days. That's OK with me, because, right here in the Book of Acts, the Author Luke tells us that there were prophets in the Early Church. Paul also lists "Prophets" when he discusses the various roles in the Body of Christ. (Ephesians 4:11) If Prophets have been eliminated, why not then the other offices been eliminated as well. We still have Pastors, Teachers, Evangelists, and People who are good at organizing and serving.

However, the test of a Prophet is very strict. If the prophecy doesn't come to pass, the prophet is a false one. Evidently NOBODY wants to translate χλωρός as "green", or they will be in a heap of trouble if a green horse never shows up.

However, one of the biggest purveyors of DEATH in our present day comes from the "green" movement. The slaughtering of cattle to "prevent global warming", the death of hundreds of whales due to Ocean Wind Farms, The chopping up of Eagles and other Raptor Birds by Land-Based Wind Turbines, and, worst of all, the slaughter of MILLIONS of Innocent Lives through abortion are some of the ways that "green" is killing our planet's inhabitants.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that Mohamed's favorite color was green. Although he rode a horse (ironically named "Barak"), there is no indication that his horse was green. Yet, green is a color on nearly every flag of the over 50 Muslim Nations on the planet. (Just Musing. All from that one verse in Isaiah!) Anyway, let's talk about TODAY'S Reading:

This tiny little snippet of Scripture tells us so much!

1. The Early Church is spreading out. Antioch is in Syria. The Church has spread there from Jerusalem, and a lot of Gentiles live there. Yet, it was in Antioch that the Community of Believers first became known as "Christians". That means that this Gentile town had quite a bit of influence on the rest of the Church, because, pretty soon, the term "Christian" became the identifying name.

2. The Church in Antioch was a legitimate expression of the new Faith. The Antioch Church had genuine Prophets and Teachers among them, including Paul.

3. The Antioch Church had REAL People, from all walks of life. The Passage even includes their names, including those who had been raised in the king's court. This was a movement that welcomed all people, regardless of their social status.

4. The Church in Antioch was FERVENT. They prayed and fasted together.

5. The Church in Antioch had Authority. We see how they anointed and ordained missionaries to go forth with the Gospel. These folks were NOT "Pew-Warmers".

It's amazing what Scripture can tell us in very few words.

Could the colors of the horses also refer to their standards? I could see a green horse meaning a horse and rider with a green flag and dress. Also interesting that green is the main color of Islam.
