Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Acts 11
The Church in Antioch
19 Now those who had been scattered by the persecution that broke out when Stephen was killed traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch, spreading the word only among Jews. 20 Some of them, however, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began to speak to Greeks also, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus. 21 The Lord’s hand was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord.
22 News of this reached the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch. 23 When he arrived and saw what the grace of God had done, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts. 24 He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord.
25 Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, 26 and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.
27 During this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28 One of them, named Agabus, stood up and through the Spirit predicted that a severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world. (This happened during the reign of Claudius.) 29 The disciples, as each one was able, decided to provide help for the brothers and sisters living in Judea. 30 This they did, sending their gift to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Dear Father in Heaven,
How Hallowed is Your Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God.
Thank You for Extending Your Salvation
To ALL People,
Regardless of their Race, Ethnicity, Culture, or Language.
Thank You For Your Provision,
For Your Healing and Restoration
And For Being ALWAYS Faithful to Your Promises!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Sometimes, at our Tuesday Open Mike Nights, an elderly trio of people show up early, have a sumptuous meal, and then wait for the show to begin. The woman in the trio is a slim, white-haired, well-dressed, lady-like person, and her husband a an affable older gentleman. The other man, Bill, has a guitar case and a music stand next to his chair, and as they finish their meal and pay the check, our musical host calls them up to the stage. Bill and the Lady go up, and she belts out great standards from The American Songbook while Bill accompanies her on his black Fender Stratocaster Guitar. They are both good musicians, but very "Old Skool" and are treated with cheers, respect, and affection by the rowdy, Millennial Irish-Sports-Bar crowd. Sometimes Bill does a solo set, and does very early 50's music and some Blues. He too, is treated with respect, but he seems to know that his job is to support the lady with his guitar playing. I am always happy when they show up because when they DON'T, I am the OLDEST person in the joint. (haha)
St. Barnabas is like Bill. He is quite capable of doing a solo gig, but that is not his main ministry. His name means "Son of Encouragement", and he does that job perfectly. The first and main person that Barnabas supports with his encouragement and affirmation is Saul of Tarsus, that renegade, ex-Pharisee, lately persecutor-of-Christians, and holder-of-coats during Stephen's execution. Let's face it, like Octogenarians at a rowdy sports bar, Saul didn't fit in. Yet, Barnabas sought him out, and introduced him to the Believers in Antioch (after having defended him before the Church Leaders in Jerusalem.) Thanks to Barnabas, Saul was now a great missionary of this new Faith, and changed his name to Paul to more easily work with gentiles. The Believers in Antioch got a new name too. This name has become synonymous with the faith ever since.
Barnabas has always been one of my favorite Bible Characters. If all ever do in my life is encourage others, then, I feel I have done the job God has given me to do.

The history of Saul to Paul is enjoyable and inspiring to read. If there’s hope for Saul there’s hope for anyone! No matter how long it can take. Thank you Lord Jesus!!

Indeed. I love the Book of Acts. It’s such a GREAT Story! :-)
JFTR, I read through the Book of Acts once a month, as the chapters add up to 28 days. That means I read it 12 times a year, and have been for the past 40 years. I do the same with Revelation (only 22 chapters)
The other categories in my reading program take longer (Gospels and Epistles take a few months, and the Torah takes half a year. The History and the Prophets are both so long that I only get through them once a year.)
I call my 8-bookmark daily readings my “Super Eight”. :-) (4 in OT, 4 in NT)
