Over 200,000 minors are estimated to have been sexually abused in Spain by the Roman Catholic clergy since 1940, according to an independent commission published Friday.
The report did not give a specific figure but said a poll of over 8,000 people found that 0.6 percent of Spain's adult population of around 39 million people said they had suffered sexual abuse by members of the clergy when they were still children.
The percentage rises to 1.13 percent -- or over 400,000 people -- when including abuse by lay members, Spain's national ombudsman Angel Gabilondo told a news conference called to present the findings of the report which has over 700 pages.

I don’t dispute your point, but I think that the focus on Christian denominations and vocations is beyond reasonable. Just like the supposed Catholic orphanage graveyards that were supposedly full of abused children, we will discover that much of this never happened.
I think the “deconstruction” aspects of liberalism attacks all forms and aspects related to established culture as patriarchal control and call it guilty by description.

There should have been a base setting question, such as:
Have you ever been molested? If so what group did the perpetrator belong to:
Police
Clergy
Teachers
Relative
Stranger
Neighbor
Friend
Partner
Such would be much more informative.
It’s a poll based on 8000 people. If accurate, probably many of the abusers are still alive, but don’t expect Pope Francis to do anything to punish the abusers. He’d be more likely to promote them.

Gabilondo is back? Gabilondo is a man with a grudge, a former member of a religious order, who was appointed by Zapatero.
The current Spanish government is radically leftwing. Since the Napoleonic invasions in the early 1800’s, the French-influenced liberals have attempted on many occasions to destroy the Church (which was the only thing that kept Spain on the right course in their colonization). The Communists and Anarchist “Republicans” that US intellectuals adored in the ‘30s killed something like 13,000 priests, sisters and dangerous lay people (such as the head of the local rosary league but particularly people running schools, working in improving the condition of the poor, etc.).
But the Faith is still strong in Spain, and despite the lunacy of the current Pope (an Argentinian Italian who hates Spain), missionaries go out to all the world.
There is no way this is realistic. I go to Spain all the time, I speak Spanish, and I know many people who have gone through Spanish educational institutions and have emerged with great educations.
The strange thing is that some of them hate the Church that got them where they are. The Church gave them everything via the Catholic educational institutions. They had no problems, and their instructors gave them the formation to be able to go on to jobs at the equivalent of the BBC or a US network, turning them into now well-respected leftist “intellectuals.”
But nobody, no matter how anti-Catholic they may be now, has ever said anything about an unpunished priest or even lay person.
Remember, while everybody hates the Spanish Inquisition, the majority of those put to death by the Inquisition in the Americas were clergy...for sexual abuse of the Indians under their care. They were also punished and sometimes put to death for stealing from the Indians and for syncretism, meaning trying to mix native religions with Christianity.
(I think the Inquisition needs to come back and take a look at LGBTQRSTUV Francis.)
So this number is ridiculous, but it simply shows you the left in action to preemptively defeat the one force that could be their enemy.
Eight thousand people, from a population of 39 million, is a 0.0205% sampling.
